CuriousLord -> RE: Missouri must allow inmates abortions (1/24/2008 1:16:36 AM)

The instructive, condescending tone tends to come out when I have to deal with significant immaturity.  It's not to be mean, but, let's be honest.. how else was I supposed to get the point across to you?  You were hardly decent.

In any case, I used "prejustice" interchangably with others' usage of "prejudice".  This should've been the tip off, as if it wasn't obvious enough already.  I'm sorry you missed it.

This thread is on inmates having abortions.  Points of debate have included:
  • Morality of abortion in the first place.
  • The "right" to abortion.
  • Tax payers have to pay for it, but many inmates wouldn't be able to if they didn't. (Good or bad?)
  • A side bit on sterotypes.

The orginial story is Missouri must allow inmates to have abortions.

You want to get your point across try some intellectual honesty for a change.

Prejustice is just prejudice that's been buggered by pretense. The pretense is that your prejudice is enlightened. Please stop pretending that is some sort of poetic achievement.

And this "PS: What is this thread about anyway? Anybody?"  is what is known in the real world as a joke. Self deprecating humour, to be precise. Perhaps it would clarify things to call it self depreciating humour, or self defecating humour or call it ognockslad, which means whatever I want it to mean until I change my mind.

You're really caught on my choice of spelling for prejustice huh?

You still don't get it, either.  "Prejustice" doesn't imply it's enlightened.  It's still the same thing.  I like the "justice" part in it because it's, when I first learned the word, ironic.. since prejudices tended to be anything but just.  And, no, I don't think it's "poetic".  I thought it was a cute pun.  I've never seen anyone make such a big deal out of such a thing before.

Zensee -> RE: Missouri must allow inmates abortions (1/24/2008 2:17:13 AM)

You really think it's all just about the one word?

Astounding.

Such is my faith in your intellect at this point.

kittinSol -> RE: Missouri must allow inmates abortions (1/24/2008 4:36:55 AM)

CuriousLord, you certainly know how to rile people up! I see that the conversation degenerated right around the point where you argued in favour of prejudice.

I see two big problems with your method: first of all, I strongly advise you against the usage of barbarism when you write. Prejustice is a non-standard word which doesn't actually exist in the language you are using. Another example I hear all the time is nucular instead of nuclear. You owe Zensee a big thank you for trying to point this out to you, because it is something you are enclined to do. The other problem I see is that you tend to accuse people of insulting you when they haven't, and that you actually insult them in the process.

It isn't because somebody leaves a sterile debate that they are giving you some kind of victory. Conversations aren't about scoring points, unless you're in a debating club - is that what's motivating you? This isn't about who said what to whom and when anymore: we've been there and we've done that [8|] .

however I do acknowledge that a random person drawn from a pool of prison inmates is, according to the observations I've made in this life, more likely to be a monster than someone outside of that prison.

you aren't taking into account that you might be holding that random "monster" person from prison up against a SMART, LUCKY, SOCIALLY ACCEPTED "monster" person from the outside world, with no ability to reproduce...Cardinal Mahoney from the Los Angeles Dicoese springs to mind.[:'(]

Heh.  That's what I mean by "more likely to be".  Plenty of monsters in and outside of prison.  :P

where do you get the ratio from, other than your own prejudiced imagination, that there would indeed be MORE monsters in prison than outside of it?

this slave's experience and reasoning lead her to conclude that since she, nor you, know how many monsters exist in total, just that the DUMB, UNLUCKY monsters happen to be incarcerated while the SMART, LUCKY monsters walk among us everyday..this slave can see no way for you to prove your extremely weak hypothesis.

kS, I must accept some blame. I could have walked away but chose not to.

I hope I was at least entertaining.

I'm off to Vancouver for an extended weekend. Maybe they won't have internet there.

To me, you were indeed entertaining. I'll look forward to more of your posts!

People in prison are often there for a reason.  While others may go free without it, the fact remains that (unless many innocent people are imprisonned- and I mean if most people in prison are innocent)- that there is a disproportion.

CuriousLord -> RE: Missouri must allow inmates abortions (1/24/2008 10:35:01 AM)

You know, kittin, it's infrequent I've had so little respect for one's intregity.  This will be it.

Peace.

kittinSol -> RE: Missouri must allow inmates abortions (1/24/2008 10:48:57 AM)

My integrity is in no way compromised. I think you're pissed off at the way things have gone on this thread, but that's an other matter entirely [:D] .

you only regard "innocent" prisoners as the only ones who are "not" monsters?  regardless of their crime, if they are incarcerated in a prison, that makes them a monster, no other qualifier?

again, you have no idea how many SMART, LUCKY monsters move around you every day...and you would at least have to know that in order to do your statistical calculations of "most likely" to support your still incredibly weak hypothesis, wouldn't you agree?
