Is it me, or do the topics seem to be lacking in any real basis of fact lately? Does anyone actually have any experience in the scene anymore? Aside from the obvious ones, which I count about 20 at best, do any of the rest of you actually get away from the computer and actually practice your kinks with someone else?

I'm all for exploration and discussion, but it's starting to sound like the inmates have taken over the assylum lately. For example, the latest "Fat Chick" thread BBW subs.... Hasn't this thread been done to death already?

Why aren't we getting topics like "How do I set up a safe call?" or "I just got this new awsome flogger, how do I keep it clean?" or "What should I expect from my first Munch?" Instead, we are dealing with pussy size, random rants (which I suppose this qualifies as) and equally base discussions.

I just find it disheartening to see so many people be so damned flip about the 'lifestyle' (which I tend to really hate as a term overall) and treat it like it's just a place to get laid. If that's all it was, most of us wouldn't put the time and effort into it and just go the vanilla route.

That reminds me, I need to go buy a book on leathercare, because I have a leather flogger I haven't used in a year (combination of meeting sensive boys and my not being a sadist), and just keeping it bagged. M
P.S. How do I keep it clean? Yes I agree on the BS discussions, but can't knock them since I usually throw in my $.02

Hiya BLK :)

I use Neatsfoot oil on my whips and floggers. It is good for use on leather, but don't use it on suede as it will stain.

How ecaxtly is it bad topics when somone ask how to set up a safeword or keep a leather flogger clean? Belive it or not, one is not teatched theese things in school. Leather for example needs special care, not everyone knows how to care for it, so why can they not go to this site and ask?!? after all is not this site for beginners as well?

One of the problems I've noticed in the past, is whae a good informative thread is started, it gets flamed (or the posters who are trying to do something positive do anyway). I cant fault people from staying away. This is exactly how GCN Gor was destroyed by people who just wanted to trash others who weren't on their low level mind set.

I agree with Raven's original post (not because he's Gorean or becaise we are friends ~ 'cause we dont know each other) but because what he said was true of most things... Shop cheap, buy trash... I've always remembered what my Father taught me as a child.. Always buy the best you can afford.

I fail to see the value or sence in the attacks on Raven or his girl/s. It has no value in the thread, nor does Gor bashing. I can however understand the OP in as far as the lack of really informative threads designed to teach and help. The powers that be know we have enough places for humour and light popstings. That was why I made the suggestion that we perhaps need a Flame Wars Forum where y'all can get the shit out of your liver without trying to screw good threads.

Still You can start flaming me all you want now.. I'll be sitting back with a glass of malt scotch and a cuban cigar and laughing myself silly or working on helping real people in real distress.

It's an open forum. Expect all and anything. If it's a topic you don't care for, simply pass it by. I don't think a few threads necessarily reflect on the "lifestyle". At least I won't give them THAT much creedence.

nella, she was suggesting that we start more threads if that nature, rather than the same-ole-same-ole "i'm-better-at-this-than-you" threads.

and um, when i get back from my out of town trip, i think i will start a thread about a flogger i bought... *l*

nella trik, you keep on posting like that lass. I for one would like to see more discussions about the safe care of toys and gear, even how to make stuff and how to use them etc just the basics which new folk can get a better understanding about.

By "bagged" I hope you didn't mean literally. Leather needs to breath. It should be hung by its handle in a dry place.

The book I recommend is Leather and Latex Care - by Kelly J Thibault

myself....i have noticed a change in peoples attitudes...around the changes of the seasons.........since i heard about it being an actual occurance for many people. Been in many large groups of people before. i have watched it happen over and over.
i am a people watcher, i have trouble putting my thoughts into words, or at least i used really suffer badly from this problem. So i would just listen alot, and watch. The change of seasons seems to cause some sort of emotionality. The end of summer is almost here, a time when many went back to school, and if school was a problem for You, this change of season, may be a tough one. A person could go all their life....never realizing why the end of summer affects their relationships with everyone around them.

Or that it even effects them at all, every year, like clockwork. i had it rather severely.....then when i found out what was causing it slowly but surely it lost it's power completely.

You may be thinking? what does this have to do with the thread?....hmmm maybe nothing.
