owner,

I ... glanced ... through the mishmash that you provided. Nothing there says that sharia law is the law of the land in Iraq.

How about making a focused presentation next time?

Firm

edited to add ... and Dubai? Didn't see it at all.

So along with owners misconeption that Sharia is the law of the land in Iraq and Dubai.  He also thinks that all women in Iraq are required to wear viels and will punished with death if tey have a job.  Notice that he uses the qualifier "all" in his post.  thats not me trying to switch the terms.

thats a neat trick to post an article about the Iraqi constitution from before it was written, pretending potential the extreme Shia takeover, actually occured.  And ignoring the actuall Constitution, that was passed.

As I stated the ignorance of some people on the realities of the Mid east are indeed appaling.

Dubai is run by Sharia law....Good Grief....

So owner thinks Sharia is law in Dubai as well as Iraq.....wierder and wierder....Though it does show the level of knowledge of the region held by some.

I`ll refer you to my Post 40 reply.

But in post 40 you give absolutly no evidence of Sharia being the Law in Iraq (or Dubai).  You did go on a rant about dry ass fucking.  Adn insulting people who don't agree with you.  About all we expect from you owner.

Heres post 40 in full.

" When a con-man(confidence man) takes his victims, some will cry, some stand up and go to the police, and others strangely, don`t tell anyone and would never ever ,..admit that they were taken. This is out of the embarrassment and shame they`ll feel, for being seen as a "mark" or "pigeon".

Con-men love this kind of "mark",and seek them out,b/c they can dry fuck them in the ass, without even a hug or kiss, and get away with it cleanly.

The republican party is full of them, both con-men and their favorite type of mark. "

Its kind of cute that so many of you Bush Haters have homosexuall chrushes on me, why else would you keep bringing up ass fucking?.  Your just not my type though.

Ugh, c'mon folks, it only takes a second to google.

Sharia or Islamic courts work alongside the civil and criminal courts in the UAE. The Sharia court is the Islamic court in the UAE and is primarily responsible for civil matters between Muslims. Non-Muslims will not appear before a Sharia court in any matter. Sharia courts have the exclusive jurisdiction to hear family disputes, including matters involving divorce, inheritances,
child custody, child abuse and guardianship of minors. In the absence of any particular provision in the UAE codified law, the Islamic principles of Sharia as found in the Islamic Sharia textbooks are applied.

The Sharia court may, at the federal level only (which, as mentioned earlier, excludes Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah), also hear appeals of certain criminal cases including rape, robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol and related crimes, which were originally tried in lower criminal courts.

Stephann,

Nice catch on Dubai, thank you.

But I was really hoping to see owner do a little actual research .... you know, find some facts, and see if he could present a cogent argument for a change.

nonetheless, good link.

Oh, I getcha; but I hate to see a good debate bogged down by simple lack of facts

Honestly, Dubai is a pretty interesting example of an Arab country (well, sort of a country) that is slowly transitioning from harsh Islam to a more tolerant and diverse culture.  We hear so much about religious extremists, that we rarely think about the millions of Muslims who want nothing more than to work their jobs, feed their children, and enjoy their families.

Ignore what Bush says and look at some of the international intelligence data. The latest report is much different than the one in 2003, but the latest report does not seem to have as solid intelligence as the one provided in 2003. Bush would actually rather push dealing with Iran off on the next President.

The international community, including some Arab and ME countries, seem to be in agreement that Iran should not have nuclear weapons.

Nuclear weapons will not defend against US foreign policy, in fact if they were acquired it would cause even more pressure and action from the West. Iran is more of a front man for Russia and China, as a stumbling block for the US and EU.

yes no country with oil resources should be allowed to have nukes.   pakistan india and korea well those guys are ok.   If/when the oil producing countries run out of oil then they can have nukes.

I was about ready to ask if Owner knew which country Dubai was in, but somene beat me to it.  Been to Dubai on several oocasions during my Navy years (please note, I joined prior to 9/11, Iraq, War on Terror insanity and spent a lot time pssing of the people I served with by making predictions that would come true 6-12 months down the road) its actually a farily nice town, requisite foreigness aside.  Saw a lot of women wearing hijabs, saw a lot of women running around in skirts, heels, shorts and tennis shoes during my excursions.  The social customs are still heavily muslim for those who are born there (they cut expats a lot of slack in that regard, mainly cause if they didn't the UAE's economy would crash as expats run 70% of every buisness in Dubai), but in the main the laws are westernized along british lines (aside from the odd quirk or two, but every country has those)
