"why is there a watermelon there?" Seriously, of the above, I have to go with Alien (even though I like Aliens better), and Blade Runner comes a close second... Of the others mentioned, the Fifth Element is a movie I just end up watching every time it's on, it seems, and the Thing (the second version, With Kurt Russel) gets really high marks. Pitch Black is my current favorite, unless we call Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Sci Fi. I would have put Serenity up there, but a friend recently posed the question "would (I) have liked it so much if I hadn't seen the TV show?", and my answer was, in fact, no.
