Just curious how the BDSMers out there approach this sappy holiday.

I'm usually not into sappy obligatory displays of affection (birthdays, Christmas, Valentines Day), I prefer to do little things at random times without expectation.  But I'm just wondering what other people out there do for a day like that.  Do you make it sappy?  Kinky?  Just another day?

I'm not a big fan of Valentines day...however i WILL buy some of the chocolate at 50% off the day after. LOL

Im a sappy hopeless romantic ... Birthdays are important to me and should be a big deal.. for myself and my submissive and has to be on the actual birth date.... no putting it off for convenience...I make my submissives feel very special on their birthdays...Valentines day can be fun ..but it can be done anytime around the actual date ... its a midwinter blues cure in my opinion........I object to flowers etc being jacked up in price for Valentines day so getting them a week earlier or days after is just fine for me ...but it takes no time for a card to be sent even online .. just to let me know I am in someones thoughts ..AND YES I enjoy those at " just because " times all year long too .. so Yes I want my cake and eat it too lol .. but hey "I'm Dominant " so Im allowed .. <wink> ROFL

SO and i celebrated it early with a candlelit dinner at Harry Caray's

for Daddy, i found a rare jazz record He likes on vinyl and will get Him a card.  in return Daddy says He has a surprise for me

Master has been wanting a nice wooden fraternity paddle.  i found one on ebay.  There's a hole in the handle where i'll tie a pretty red ribbon and He can color my ass red for Valentine's Day.  That, and a Reese's Peanut Butter heart in red foil, ought to put a smile on someone's face!

I'm choosing kinky. Safer that way, at least for right now.

I've commissioned an artist to do a sketch of us in a scene. Provided pictures of the both of us, so it could be as realistic as possible. Nothing terribly kinky, just me on my knees, Him standing with a chain in His fist. It will be comic style, as we are both fans. I've seen the rough and it looks really, really good.

Posted an ad to Craigslist saying "comic style drawing wanted", and was able to locate someone in my local area that way.

We do something "together."  Since it's right after my birthday, the fact that it's celebrated at all is pretty good to me.  Last year we were tired and hectic so we just did KFC in the living room with a good movie.  This year we're using a gift cert he got to go out to a very nice restaurant- traditional but nothing I've actually done ON Valentines Day.

...I'm going to Florida to meet with a Slave I've been talking to for some time.  We've met once before, and we decided beforehand not to do anything sexual...  Didn't work :3.  We ended up sneaking her out under the cover of night from her father (She's twenty, it was Christmas Eve, In Maryland).  We worried her father absolutely sick, but that night was magical.  Ever since that night, we've been planning to meet eachother for Valentine's day.

She doesn't work yet, but she's a highly skilled artist.  I'm going to help her escape her Mother and her (mother's) Boyfriend on Valentine's Day Night, and I'm going to take her to the Beach (also have a Beachside Hotel Resort reserved in Naples FL).

Ever since I made the reservations, I thought.  "This is going to be the most magical Valentine's day ever"

Working in the food industry, I have been working that night for what seems like forever. For many restaurants, along with Mother's Day it is a huge money night for them. I despise working that night, I dont like crowds, and there is too much staff in a frenzy, bumping into each other, running out of food. The owners going nuts, yuck, way too much tension. I try and get lost in the romance at each table, I like to see how folks dress up for their date. Casual to way over-dressed, it is pretty cute.

In another world I would love to have a cozy time at home with someone special. A drive to some cool spot like the lakeside. I love romance. I would not likely go to a restaurant though. Order in pizza, okay. I have a hard time in a restaurant sometimes. I want to jump up and bus tables and stuff.

If I had no one to spend it with, I would like to stay home, take a bath, eat some nice food and surround myself in Love.

I will be making chocolate covered fruit and some truffles for SJ this year.  He hasn't mentioned any plans, though I know he has class that evening.  We'll probably 'celebrate' on the weekend. 

The other thing I wanted to get for him is a set of  cast iron ramikins.  He had mentioned them before Christmas.  SJ says they are wonderful pervertables when you put them in the freezer for awhile.

Thanks for the replies.  Okay, confession... I'm sort of fishing here.  No idea what to do about the whole vanentine's thing because I'm a) usually single on V day, and b) not a sappy person (except when it hits me just right at random times). I'm seeing someone new and I can't really tell if he's sappy about stuff like that yet... so I want to be low key, but not ignore it, so...

I dont know if we have any plas for Valentines day or not. We will be going out the day before, since I have to go get the final fitting done on my bridesmaids dress and the store i got it at is by Fox's campus. That happens to be our 4 month collaring anniversary, so since I will be working and he will have classes on the 14th, the 13th seems to be a god enough substitute.

Typically, it's a date night for us. A great night between just us. Although, this year, it appears that I'll be away on business. I'm trying my best to get it worked out that I get home in time for dinner.
