I suspect I am also in the minority here. I love horror movies and gore fests, for what they are, an interesting exercise in special effects and psychology. Master hates them and only watches a rare one on DVD with me like Captivity. Bondage in movies and splatter films have been around for a long time and some have plot, some don't, just like comdies, drama's and love stories. Heck back when films were black, white and silent, BDSM reared it's head on the silver screen with the damsel in distressed tied to the railroad tracks, menaced in the abandoned shack or the hero tied and headed for the saw blade at the mill. They have gotten more gory over the years, but, oddly enough a lot of that is demand by the "vanilla" public. The same public buying Grand Theft Auto (ad nauseum) and Halo, etc. Would I call them torture porn? Heck no. I reserve those terms for movies available at places like Brutalmaster.com, Torturegalaxy.com and Insex.com. The fare that is available at your local movie theater is splashy and intriguing, but ultimately fake. At the end of the day the actors wash up, go home and have a nice dinner. Reality can be much, much harsher. Refer to books Like Beyond Cruel or Burned Alive, or to serial killers like Jerry Brudos, Ed Gein or Albert Fish for reality that far outstrips anything the movies cast before us. The traps in the movies are fascinating, the glimpses we get into the psychology (and even in a poorly plotted movies those glimpses are there if only of the writer's mind and the directors ) intriguing at the lwseast, ad we are safely tucked away behind our popcorn and soda from the reality that such monsters DO stalk the earth and populate our news casts and news papers, nearly daily from child abuse to murder to acts of war. Thanks to my parents, and to the person that murdered my youngest child I have a deep interest in trying to figure out what makes some people tick. I won't find answers to that in Torture/Horror films and I don't look for them there. I do watch and wonder for movies like Saw just how far I would go to escape. I like the thrills of knowing the person shouldn't go in the basement, or knock on the door of that really nasty looking house. I also like Natural Disaster films, even though I have lived through the realities at different times, of tornados, hurricanes and blizzards. Hmm maybe I am just weird. Master thinks so at times. But yanno, he was real proud that someone paid me to write them a custom torture porn story and brags about it. poenkitten (twisted, sick and in love with movies like Seven, Saw 1, Hostel)
