Long distance definitely doesn't work for me. My ex travelled constantly (I mean 5 million-miler on Delta) and the absence was one of the reasons our marriage didn't survive. I travelled to Vancouver BC last year, and Seattle this year, and, while the vancouver woman was fun, she also didn't want to live anywhere but in the bush. Wish I knew that before I went. The Seattle woman, well, lets just say that after 3 days, I rented a car and went up to Van and visited friends. Nope, sorry, gotta be close by for me. As to what I would do, well, let's put it this way: I fell very much in love with my last companion, and she is beneficiary of my IRA. Was going to make her beneficiary for my property, but held off. Would have, though. For the right person I am loyal, faithful, and devoted.

If they don't have those sincere feelings, then buying me a car will not be the same as receiving a hug from someone who does. If you know someone sincerely loves or cares for you, then the questions themselves become jejune. Whether it's 12 hours on a plane or a simple kiss before going to work, the same sincere feeling is being expressed. At that point, assigning values to expressions might even be defeating, because you could start to take for granted or not appreciate the simplest expressions from someone trying to remind how much they love you. Now...back to your regularly scheduled bickering....
