I'm curious how many Doms have set Honorifics (Sir, Master, Ma'am, etc) that they tell their sub to use, and how many just let their sub develop an Honorific for them.

I was told I initially couldn't call him "Master." As it was explained to me: Master is WHAT I am, in the same way someone is a plumber or a teacher or a lawyer. You don't go around calling someone Hey, Plumber!" My name is R______. If you'd like to call me Sir, you may do that. And so I did. As time went on, I asked him again about that whole "Master" thing... He said "Master is what I am...call me what I am to you." I really thought that'd be "Master." However, Sir is who he is to me, it's who he's always been and flipping the switch just seems redundant. Both of us know he's my Master and will always be my Master. When talking about him with friends, I use his name. When addressing him, I've tried to use his name, but "Sir" is always what comes out. juliet

"Sir" is the prefered honorific in certain contexts. Though I am always welcome and encouraged to use his name, provided that honorific is now used at a certain minimum. It can also be discreetly used in public without anyone getting their panties in a knot.

Daddy/Sir/Master, i call Him all of them because He likes variety lol. He has a bunch of names for me too but i stick to Master when i am in trouble, Sir day to day and Daddy when being intimate. -bobcat But thats just me.

What has always puzzled me is when a submissive refers to her dominant as "my Sir". I hate to be a grammarphobe but I cringe everytime I see that.

I assume you want Dommes to answer too (as you said Ma'am in your examples) I dont like anyone calling Me Mistress, unless, that is what I am to them, and I even state so in My profile, I wont even answer to Mistress I go by Governess, as My "title", or Ma'am is fine to show respect At times, with lesbian slaves, I have been called Syr, which is fine too

Well, as others, we do have a lot of names for each other, but, when we first started playing, He requested I call Him Master. But, every time we were together, I called Him Honey, followed quickly by Master. Hence, He has become my 'HoneyMaster'. (among other things) ~Christina
