Perfect example of what I was saying. YOU have interpreted my statement to be about YOU when I was making a general statement how things are taken. I hardly know you, other than how you respond to my posts, so I could hardly be expected to make a judgement of your intelligence level, could I? As for respect, people that I respect have earned my respect through my interactions with them. Respect is not given out just by being a poster.

ive seen some of the ('scuse me) "stupid people" (NOT my words!!!) making great strikes lately, to better fit in here, be more rescpectful, ask more clear questions, whatever, and im taking that into account when i want to respond to a thread.
see, heres the thing. i have been spanked by mod 11 for what she (are you a she?) just mentioned, so ive been trying to moderate myself. i for one dont like being spanked by someone ill likely never meet in person!

I will reword it then.... if one does not understand your intent .. they do not have your respect and are not intelligent ? Is that more appropriate and generic enough?

Just to point it out, thread hijacking can be a good thing, even and especially when it kills a thread.

I know that, probably a couple weeks ago, I had a thread on the main BDSM Discussion forum. Of course, being the elitist I am, I made the points vague enough to be misunderstood and taken as offensive by a good many. It started off with a combination of discussion and flame. After the useful discussion died down and it was just the flame, I and several others hijacked the thread and purposefully put it down. It effectively ended the flame war that was building in it.

If anyone who helped with that happens to read this, my thanks.

Now I will make my apologies .... for it seems I have changed the course of the thread and that was totally unintentional......I was only trying to understand and make a point of how easily things are misunderstood and the need to take care of what we post and that does not mean being someones mother .. again my apologies to the OP and the posters ....

Call me thick but I need some examples to understand this rule and how it is going to be applied. I love following rules and make sure I always do my best to follow them. Just like the keep off the grass rule, where you can't take short cuts, it is in place to stop the grass becoming a big square patch of mud as people walk over it. I need to understand the type of behaviour first. So references to these hijacked threads within that announcement would be nice, or some descriptive examples etc. This rule isn’t like the other more cut and dried ones.

I agree examples would be nice. But I would guess that if you, as an individual or group, posted and posted and posted in a thread you would make it impossible to follow the op’s subject. Many people would open and see the chaos and not comment.

This would effectively kill the thread.

I think a lot of people can be accused of not following the whole thread in most cases and just replying to the original post or the last reply to it. For example I've not read this whole thread and just because I didn't want to read the entire thread it didn't stop me from replying to the original post or a specific reply I read. You’ll see people make the same points continuously that have already been made this way. I don't think threads die from being filled with crap because amongst the crap you'll see people maybe taking the OP more seriously. Plus if the same people are making the posts or a group of friends you can filter out their replies with the block thing.

At the risk of drawing wrath down upon my wenchie head here, it seems that this issue has stirred up a number of hard feelings and angst that surprises me. i love a good debate, however when it devolves into mindless ranting and raving i have an urge to check the top of the page to ensure i have not somehow stumbled onto CL. Is it truly so difficult to see an opinion that varies from our own and either view it and try to understand the meaning behind it without getting our proverbial panties in a bunch, or simply ignore it and go on our way content with seeing things exactly as we do?

Yes, stupid people bug the shit out of me, yes they have a right to be stupid, and yes, just because i think they are stupid does not in any way invalidate their feelings of being anything other than stupid. It is simply my opinion, and if i do reply to a thread i think is stupid, then perhaps i am the one being stupid for taking the time to actually think out a response. i do not go out of my way to think of good mean names to call someone in the hopes that they will walk off the playground crying. Finding other less childish ways to make a point is far more satisfying... to me. This is my view only, and thankfully i have thick enough skin to deal with those who disagree, and hey, if they seem to be making a valid point, i will pause to consider it. Might not change my mind, then again it just might.

one persons stupidity may be another persons idea of a great question, one persons intellectual thoughts may seem to be holier than thou behavior to another. something funny to someone may cut someone else to the bone.

if someone is offended by you, intent or not, theyre offended. if you find a question stupid, whether they intended it or not, you find it stupid.

perhaps realizing that there are many different personalities on here, with many different levels of education (book learning and common sense), we could all learn something.

just my 2 cents......and mod 11 must be a saint to keep splainin this over and over.

i have a migraine now and i didn't even try to read every post in this thread...i was just trying to read Ron's funny posts...but then i had to go back and read some b.s. to find out what the fuck he was talking about, and then it was like driving past a train wreck and i just couldn't look away...thank god for having a life today...no offence intended, of course...
