you know i like most of your posts and i agree with you. to a point.

my infamous to a point...sigh.

a few barbed words, worded the right way and to the right person will have MASSIVE effects. or at least the potential. case in point--rape play threads. that's one big minefield of triggers sitting right there for the right group. me? i tend to ignore them for that reason. however it's all just words right? doesn't matter that the power of words has driven numerous and countless people (including myself) into therapy at one point or another right?

NOTE: THAT WAS NOT WHINING OR LOOKING FOR PITY. KINDLY KEEP THAT OUT OF IT.

however to simply say it's just a couple of words i think underestimates the power of language. granted you can stop reading and you can find another board which is all well and good but to just say oh well it's just words suck up and deal--you never know what someone's trigger is, and like i said before i at least personally am not looking for sweetness and light but a little honesty tempered with some adult reason might be nice.

i think people overestimate the lack of context on these boards as well. there's no behavioral cues here that could  possibly temper some of these posts/hijackings down a little. there's a lot of stuff here that can be construed in multiple ways and without being able to see say someone's facial response i might take something really serious as being hilariously funny or on the opposite take something as exceptionally rude and offensive when i might have thought it was funny with some body language thrown in so i could know what the intention was.

but meh.

i tend to ramble anyway.

Otherwise known as the Bigmouth Submissive Collective - though you may avoid that particular group by joining more 'arrid' discussion threads. They tend to not frequent those as assiduously :-) .

No, you're probably more than welcome to have your frivolous threads in the off topic/humour areas of the site.  The point is, your jello wrestling probably isn't appropriate while other people are trying to discuss issues relevant to the thread in question.

Actually I started the jello wrestling thing when a thread had deteriorated to the point that regular posters were exchanging personal slams in an attempt to point out how silly it was.  Up until recently when someone began running with the ball indiscriminately, that was usually the context.

I find it odd how personal people take these forums.  Get out and live life if the internet is that important, it's just pixels and people with ironic or sardonic senses of humor rarely intend it to be personal, although it's often interpreted that way here oddly. 

I agree it is inappropriate to hijack on purpose, however many other statements here I don't agree with.  This isn't a sewing circle, it's a bdsm board.  Flaming and making personal attacks are clearly against the TOS, however, saying others can't stick up for others or one must always be "nice" (whatever the hell that is) is ridiculous.  I'm fairly sure the vanilla public would say most of us are not "nice", is this really the standard you all are looking to impose?  Who decides what is nice?  When some moron comes on here posting their sub is "fake" because she won't do his 3 brothers (an example, but we've seen some equally ridiculous posts), you honestly believe we should all just pass "if we don't have anything nice to say"?  Please stop impersonating my mother, it's creeping me out! (shudder).

Actually there are posters whose comments do indicate they expect the campfire rah rah routine and whether the word is "nice" or "respectful" or green beans, the sentiment is the same.  If one is getting their positive strokes or responding overly negatively to the internet one needs to take a look at how "they" (whom are totally unknown to them) are being allowed so much power over their lives.  A wise man once told me, there is no they, there is only you.
