I dunno... depends on if you are a smoker or fat as to who you think gets the most flack... my big ass isnt going to second hand effect any one.. so smiles I tend to think the "War On Obese People" as it is now turning out smirks is a bit much. If people want to kill themselves with ciggies, fine, let them.. just not around me where they can kill me too. But damn it they should be allowed to. Go Dennis Leary! If I dont want to see Jabba's long lost twin shoveling food as fast as they can at Stacey's Buffet ( have you been there? It's fabulous! all you can eat steak and ribs.. OMG!) I simply will turn my head the other way. They have every right to eat. and if people don't like to see my big ass, they can bloody well look the other way. LOL Gwyn

They are now cutting back on lunches in our school system and doing more "Portion Control" because they fear helping with childhood obesity. My son who is a twig eats everything not nailed down well enough. He comes home starving every day from school since the change. Anybody ever been to the MS casinos down on the Gulf? Ban overweight people from the restaurants down there and you might as well board up the casinos. Stupid legislators, stupid law. Anything this clearlyin violation of equal protection should get elected officials responsible for introducing it bounced from office.

Well there is serious discussion about preventing obese people from getting fertility treatments (to prevent them from passing their fat genes on to children), subjecting the obese to higher prices for airfare, denying the obese medical care until they lower their BMI. Who knows, perhaps the obese and those that love them will be required to move into ghettos so that the people who don't like to look at them won't have to do so. They'll be banned from theaters, sporting events, public office, education. Where does it stop? If you are one of those people who doesn't consider the obese to be humans you could make this leap very easily.

I'm not skinny, 6' tall, 280lbs, waist 44", but I do not view it as discrimination if an airline or theater says "you don't fit in one seat, you've got to pay for the extra seat." These are businesses that make money based on filling seats. To let someone pay for one seat but occupy two isn't good business. Yes, I understand this is a hardship for the very overweight but the other way around is a hardship on the business not to mention the hassles that occur when a very obese person shows up with a coach ticket for a fully booked flight, which happened more than a few times back in my traveling for business days. Arguments always ensued and that almost always delayed takeoff. It was more than a tad aggravating.

What it says is that no state can make a law that abridges the rights and immunities of citizenship. Among other things (it has 4 sections). Being banned from a restaurant does not take away your rights as a citizen. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Right...look up what "equal protection" means. The Supreme Court has interpreted it as meaning that all laws must apply to all equally. In other words you cant refuse to serve someone just because they are a muslim or black or hispanic. We went through this stuff back in the 60s and the courts have ruled it unconstitutional.
