Great beer (proper beer) - room temperature. None of that carbonated horse piss labelled as 'beer'

Music - We rock! We've produced so much world-changing music. The Jam - Down in the Tube Station at Midnight. Or the clash's 'Rock the Kasbah' depending where in the world you are!

St George's Day! Regardless of where you are, celebrate.

Our Arts - turning any stepping stone/pavement into a tapestry of colour just for the amusement factor.

Our cockney rhyming slang - The Dark was expressing her old english individualism with 'aint'.

Food - Spotted dick, treacle tart, yorkshire pudding, bangers and mash, toad in the 'ole', 'butties'

Our pride in mobilising our ENTIRE workforce during WWII.

Our general attitude of 'Fair Play' which is one of the cornerstones of English society.

Toilet Humour - let's face it, Americans/many other cultures just do not 'get it'... that's something else which is ours.

In times of emergency/high trauma we do this - Have a cup of tea! A cup of tea puts everything into perspective. Lord Mountbatten was absolutely right about that, "I don't care whether he's muslim, hindi or sikh, as long as he can make a good cup of tea!" It may seem racist but it pretty much sums up the English mentality.

Regardless of where we are, we still think in terms of imperial measurements of pounds and ounces.

Exactly right. Beer festivals all over the country with hundreds of ales and eccentric names such as Dark Side of the Moose and Spitting Feathers Old Wavertonian and Mordue Workie Ticket. Ale and ale festivals are definitely coming with us.

Other peoples have faith in psychiatrists; the English resolve their porblems over a beer or a cup of tea.

Status: offline 		What I love about us brits is that guys can get blathered, tempers are raised so they'll piss off outside for a few fisticuffs and once they've rolled around the pavement/gutter, a little blood and feel suitably spent, they'll shake hands and go back inside for another pint!

Oh, and something else I forgot. Knotted handkerchief sunhats on the beach. String vests and beaches that tear your feet to pieces when you walk over the mile of stones to get to a small strip of sand and the murky water that lays beyond it!

And what about East Lane Market with its sarsparilla, pubs that still have traditional seafood stalls outside selling scampi and chips, small trays of winkles and cockles.

Pie, mash and Liquor (did I spell that correctly?).

Status: offline 		This weekend is the last before the traditional Lenten 40 day's of austerity. Traditionally, the last time to party before silent and solemn contemplation of the Mysteries takes centre stage.

With that in mind, in Rio de Janeiro and Trinidad, they have massive five day Carnivals. In New Orleans, Mardi Gras.

In England? Pancake Day.

Well, doesn't do to go overboard, does it?

Status: offline 		I don't doubt it is Miss Morrigan, it is there, submerged under the piles of Europeanana and political correctness.

I am not saying though to be racist, but if who ever comes here and tries  to fit in to my country, I will give them every respect due another Englishman and call them the English they desire to be, race, religion, culture is irrelevant.

I have those of Asian descent in the family, and they drink Real Ale, in pubs and are very much English.

Status: offline 		I do not believe that to be a racist viewpoint at all, Aneirin. Each country has their culture, England has a rather distinctive one and one in which politicians are doing their damnedest to erode - many feel as if they should be ashamed for enjoying their britishness.

Regardless of ethnicity, England belongs to those that work their arses off to ensure its continuance/its success. We are gradually losing our identity and I personally feel it's that in which lies the shame.
