Banning Flatulence:

"Strange, but true, thanks to a bunch of 8th grade boys, intentional farting has been banned from CRMS," the newsletter said. "It started out as a funny joke and eventually turned into a game. This is the first rule at CRMS that prevents the use of natural bodily functions. The penalty for intentional farting is a detention, so keep it to yourself!"

I'm ... breathless!

seriously is this at an institution or school cuz if it is really, they should look at the food that is served and well what if someone has an issue health issue that is like gastointestinal probs that kind of thing....................better yet get over it,go with the flow,let em loose, rip a big one

my bother (not a typo) was really good at the "fart and belch on command" game.

so much so that he had to be threatened with bodily harm at my wedding lest he fully execute the "pull my finger" joke. during the service. like he did during the rehearsal.

so yes, while bodily functions can and do happen, intentionally letting go can be quite distracting.

I was watching tv with my UMs a while back (I think it was Nikelodeon), and saw one of those public service type commercials discussing farting in which they were actually encouraging the tv audience to just let themselves go wherever they happen to be whenever they feel the urge. I could scarcely believe what I was watching! There was no mention whatsoever about taking it somewhere more appropriate, such as a bathroom. I made the UMs turn off the tv and I gave them a stern lecture about while such bodily functions are perfectly normal and natural, there is still such a thing as manners and courtesy

ah, a bunch of boys acting like boys have since the days of the cave man. i have four sons, i live with that stuff 24/7. i don't even notice anymore, i think i'm immune.

Personally I applaud this--I find families who allow their boy or girl children to do this--to be abominable---those practices are not accepted in our society and I find it inexcusable when they cannot be taught to act appropriately--the key word here is intentional--and I am sure they found it as a means to disrupt class--which as well as the lack of cuteness, is immature. I blame the parents---and the crap of "boys will be boys" doesn't wash.

I find it sad that our schools are not only charged with babysitting children for parents, they now have to instill social mores-when do they get down to teaching and not parenting.
