Art is what Man can create. Of course in this sense it means that Women can do it as well. Whether the universe and this planet was created by God, Allah, some simple basic force of nature, or even Al Gore, we are here. We did not create ourselves, we did not create this planet nor any of the elements on it. We are unable to create anything tangible in that sense, all we can do is rearrainge what has been created in the past. When most people think of art, the first thing that comes to mind is a painting. But that is ignoring all the other forms of art. Music is an art. And somewhere that really kickass joke you read in Humor, it was written by somebody. I would define art as the only real human creation. And art is just about any concept that is well expressed. To expound : Building a brick shithouse. The workers paricipated in making the expression a reality, but whoever designed it is the artist. It is likewise with engineers and companies full of workers that follow their concept. It is their job. Your car is a work of art. The original concept was art, and people learn about it to advance and refine that work of art. Even designing the rolling chassis and drivetrain is a work of art. Do you think there are just straight bars and a few rods running through there ? I was just joking there, I am pretty sure nobody thinks that. But to realize the amount of work that goes into designing just the suspension in a modern car is amazing. You could almost call the shape of the lower control arms to be art. (they are at the bottom of what your wheels screw to) But then maybe not. Is it a requirement of art that it be intended to please ? A musician intends to please his audience, now car wise the guy who designs the body of the car, is he more of an artist than the ones who worked overtime to cram the drivetrain into the body design no matter what ? Is advertising considered art ? Hold on, a superbowl commercial that wins awards versus a billboard layout. I have seen some seriously good TV commercials, but the intent was to sell a product, or possibly a bit of oneupsmanship in the case of some of the larger businesses. It is also sort of considered a sort of competition for advertising companies. People get bonuses. The saying is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, perhaps art is in the intent of it's creator. Nice subject, I hope someone read all that. T
