yeah, I know what you mean about their eyes....

WaratahBlossoms -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/8/2008 7:47:22 PM)

Then I'm not the only one they bother!

They have these big noses and small beady eyes and I'm so afraid that they're going to gang up on me and jump me!

GreedyTop -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/8/2008 8:13:14 PM)

I'm not really afraid of them, but they do kinda creep me out.. I used to have a toy koala, which I loved... it's the LIVE ones that creep me out

ProlificNeeds -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/8/2008 11:17:48 PM)

Being a bigot, being narrow minded, unable to change or grow, those are weaknesses. Being hateful or unable to empathize with others, being self absorbed, those are flaws.
Having a fear of some animal/insect or what not, is not a flaw, it's human. I'm often intimidated and put off by 'perfect' people who never admit to their fears or woes. I can't connect to a person who is that different from me. I have lots of fears and concerns, some serious, some silly, and I expect my partner to be able to empathize with those at times. If a person can't even admit or talk about their own fears and insecurities, how could they possibly help their sub/slave with such things?

Has he acted as though he doesn't take you seriously? You have mentioned twice that your fear is that he won't take you seriously, why is that? In my own opinion, I think your fear is that YOU might not take yourself seriously and you may be projecting that on to hiim. Could this be the case?

Either way, lighten up on yourself. We are all human :)

Then it seems I'm the only one that sees it as a weakness. But I won't hide it either. It just makes me wonder if a sub would find me a bit of a joke knowing those things about me.

At least the fear of the dark isn't so bad. I just have to have 75% of the lights in the house on when home alone at night.

Now, the nonsensical fear of koalas is the one I find embarassing.

From a strictly submissive point of view, it would be an honor and a privelege to make certain that Mistress had adequate lighting, and that She was protected against any rampaging, or lurking koala bears.  This does not strike me as any more (or less) unusual than other possible preparation rituals.

it could actually be used to make the ritual of preparation more exciting.

just a thought.  Try taking out of the fear category, and put it as part of  Your responsibilities to serve.  Any disturbing laughter or question should be dealt with strictly.

Mistress (to sub jumping up and down on bed): What in the world are you doing?
Sub: Protecting you from Koala bears, Mistress!
Mistress: There are no Koala bears around here.
Sub: See how well it works?

Oh, he tried to buy my daughter a koala bear for her birthday and I hit him. Right there in Kmart. Someone looked shocked at me. "It's okay. I own him."

But I like that everyone doesn't find it funny that I'm a bit off.
Well, it is a bit funny that I'm a bit off but I just have odd fears.

I did conquer the sock monkey fear and bought my daughter one. Touched it and everything. Let her put it around my neck and make it kiss me. Haha.

Now, the TMX Ernie that has seizures is my next big fear. It moves without being touched. When it's sitting by itself, it'll turn itself on like someone hit it's belly and go through the laughing and shaking bit. I think the solution to that problem is a rubber mallet, though.

Ok, totally with ya on the elmo thing.. those things are just EVIL!

That would be quite amusing to watch a sub of your age jumping up and down on the bed.

I know this is going to be an odd sort of question, but how many subs could feel they cold handle a "weak" sort of Dominant?

dunno how many, but I wouldn't.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/9/2008 12:21:24 PM)

I have a dominant friend who is one of the most commanding figures I have ever met. He is the type that people defer to even before they know him, because that is the type of personality he has.
This same man will not watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets becasue of the spiders (unless he has someone to hold, or a teddy bear)
Does his irrational fear of spiders make him less dominant... not in the lsightest.  Does it mean, however, that a girl or boy with a spider tattoo wont stand a chance of consideration... yep.
Its along the same lines as Fox needing all the doors closed around him in order to be able to sleep.  He demands it. It doesnt matter either way to me, but it doesnt make him less submissive to demand that the doors are closed.

Subs and slaves will accept your fears and such for part of you, and you'd be surprised what they might be afraid of that they might confess to knowing you arent perfect and wont hold it against them.

Well, he and I would be perfect sitting and watching Chamber of Secrets with our feet up on the couch.
That just made me twitch a bit thinking about all those spiders.
EW.

a fear of koalas is no different than a fear of spiders, or snakes, or clowns.

See.. now Clowns just creep me the hell out.

and watching "Killer Clowns from Outerspace" did not help one wit.

As usual RedMagic1 hit it on the nail. Don't let your fears rule you.. and lead with your strengths.

Personaly I used to sleep with a machete under my pillows or near by. Then I switched it to a long sword by my head board. I also had a gun in the night stand at one point. ( that I also used to carry 24/7) I don't do that any more.. the long sword is in a corner of the room but not in reach, and the gun is out of the house.

Sometimes there is a thin line between fearing and protecting. Stalkers and crazy ex's make a gal more careful.

Personaly I think every female should take some form of self defence. That might help with the fear of the dark you have. As for the Koalas I would talk to some one about that. Usualy unconventional fears like that stem from something. They can prob. help you with it.

My girl has a fear of dark pools of water. ( We are in FL. and gators do take dips in residental pools ) my other sweetie has a fear of large inclosed pools of water indoors. ( like holding tanks) ~ he saw someone almost drown in one.

GreedyTop -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/9/2008 12:34:45 PM)

ooh... Gwyn... a long sword?/  *purrr* see, I KNEW I liked you for a reason :D

WaratahBlossoms -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/9/2008 12:38:01 PM)

Yeah. I won't go in water I can't see the bottom of.

And koalas have scary little beady eyes compared to the rest of their bodies. It's scary.

Now, gators are cool. My Pet is on watch for that one though. If I bring home anything mildly aquatic, he freaks out because he's not supposed to let me buy animals. A betta is enough.

subtee -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/9/2008 12:39:05 PM)

I don't want to handle anyone...but maybe that's a weakness of mine.

Gwyn, awesome lady, I've got a baseball bat. Is that enough, ya think?

GreedyTop -> RE: Can you handle a "weak" Dominant? (2/9/2008 12:39:42 PM)

awww thats so cute... I happen to love spiders.. I bought my son the Aragog T-shirt from the movie, and the huge clutching spider toy from the movie too.. though for the first year it um... hung out on my desk. *smiles* yeah mom gets the cool toys first. ( like the 2 elvin Ranger chicks on horseback that he *might* get eventualy that are on my desk now.. that would go with his castle nicely)

I have to sleep with the closet door closed, but the bedroom door cracked (so I can hear downstairs- and for the front door)

Cute article on what Kiki - the spider who played Aragog and the spider in Lord of the Rings... has to say about her roles. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.bbspot.com/Images/News_Features/2003/06/aragog.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.bbspot.com/News/2003/06/shelob.html&h=350&w=300&sz=32&tbnid=qUya2pcdqkEPyM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=103&prev=/images%3Fq%3Daragog%26um%3D1&start=2&ei=rBCuR6O0IoL-gASjyukb&sig2=CSi0Jo9U1LcOivUooKNLbA&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=2
