ORIGINAL: GreedyTop ok, does anyone besides me remember some kind of pudding that came with what looked like a mini martini shaker.. you put the pudding mix in, then added milk (or water?) and shook it until it was set? Shake-a-Puddin'! I remember that! Pop/soda (depending on where you're from) came in cartons of glass bottles, and you had to take the bottles back to the store to get your deposit back. If you needed quick cash, you could find a few alongside the road and cash them in! You played outside all day and knew you had to go home when the street lights came on. Friday nights were for The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game You wore shorts under your dresses to school so the boys couldn't look up your dress when you climbed the monkey bars. We were actually afraid of the principal. (Our principal was rumored to have an electric padding machine in his office) Our parents paid the babysitter 50 cents an hour and anything they wanted that was in the fridge. Barbie's best friend was Midge Your library card was made of card stock and had a little metal plate on it. When you checked out a book, that little machine sounded like rifle shots echoing through the quiet library when they stamped the return date on the other cards. The card catalog had little drawers with index cards. Medical equipment like syringes and needles were sterilized (hopefully) and re-used. (Ugh) A real rabbit actually died when they had a positive pregnancy test.
