“Rape, ladies and gentlemen, is not today what rape was. Rape, when I was learning these things, was the violation of a chaste woman, against her will, by some party not her spouse. Today it’s simply, ‘Let’s don’t go forward with this act.’ ”

He is trying to say (not very successfully) that the standards for rape aren't as high as they used to be [8|] .

All I can say is that anyone who votes for this man in the next election DESERVES HIM!

Yeah,remember "the good`ol days"(from recent threads)?

Rape was different back then.<heavy, dark sarcasm>

<shakes head,wishing I could bitch slap that TN Senator>

There are states, where spouses may rape their wives/soon to be ex,not-divorced yet wives, etc.,like Tennessee and face little legal trouble.Arizona is another .

You`d think John McCain would have better things to do,then to butt his nose into sports issues.

I believe there is some truth in what the "short of breath" man is trying to say.

If a women allows herself to engage in intimate acts , reciprocates and then at the last minute changes her mind she's the author of her own misfortune. IMO
Its called flying in the face of nature and should be a defence IMO.

Also many women make accusations of rape 2 or 3 months after the incident. or immediately after the incident without a mark on them. is that suspicious or not ?t.

In the UK some appear to believe that if a woman claims rape then thats it, she  was raped. Do you believe that is always true. I dont.

Yup, gonna be hard to find someone he can wrassle around and rape. Anybody that he could be in the area to rape is prolly looking to help him with it, and I don't think he has the post-hole digger that could open up that kinda prune.

not. i didn't tell anyone about my rape until 8 months afterward. (i never tried to take it to court; my friend had been in a similar situation and was dragged through a terrible court case and basically told it was her fault and no way was it rape. that was enough for me to completely stay out of it.) one of the myths about rape is that it has to be violent, or it isn't rape if she doesn't fight back; that's just not true. a lot of women are too scared or not in a position to fight back at all (because of being drugged, physically threatened, etc.).

to the op...yup, because no way is rape by a spouse or boyfriend "rape." no way is rape of a woman who isn't "chaste" "rape." just because we choose to be in a relationship, or choose to sleep around, we deserve to be forced. sheesh. i would say awareness of rape has come a long way since he was "learning these things." some people just need to learn to keep their mouths shut.

respectfully,
annabelle.

As always your remarks are clearly and cogently presented (but not necessarily logically or rationally supported)
Should someone place a loaded and cocked .45 caliber pistol to your forehead and request that you please open your mouth and remove your dentures so that they might enjoy the warmth of your oral cavity with their penis I am sure you would struggle to the death to prevent it.  So it would stand to reason (well at least your reasoning) that anyone who did less would not be capable of claiming rape, since there would be no visible marks of a struggle and after all he did say please and did not actually tell you he would pull the trigger should you refuse.
This would clearly indicate to some that the one on his knees with his dentures in his pocket was in fact a cocksucker and not a rape victim.

Nature 'encourages' all sorts of behavior that we attempt to quell in a civilized society.  'Survival of the fittest' is strongly constrained by civilized society as well.

While I think it is improper for people to give the impression of "all systems go" and then back out at the last minute, I respect and uphold people's right to be able to do so.  You got led on, it still doesn't give you the right to take the offerings.  If you'd like though we could lobby for a counter charge of 'enticement without fulfillment' or something similar.  Maybe that would dissuade all those people engaging and reciprocating in intimate acts from doing so if they aren't sure they can follow through.  Have you been left hanging often?  Is this really a problem in your life?

I do agree though that people need to be careful about what they seem to implicitly agree to.  I try and remind those I have some influence over of this concept.  Just because no means no doesn't mean you shouldn't give the wrong message up to that point.  I wouldn't walk through a dangerous neighbourhood counting large sums of money and think I wouldn't get robbed.  I know I shouldn't get robbed, but that's not the reality.

What a dynamic personality.  It was hard not to fall asleep while watching him.  Either that or reach into his throat and pull out his words, good grief.

Sounds like a really bad country/western song:  "Rape just ain't what it used to be"

This is a perfect example of ignorance.  I liked one of the quotes someone wrote under that video:  "You can not take back stupid.  But you can unelect it."

I liked watching the buy behind him.  He looked like he was falling asleep until the idiot comment was made, and then he starts looking around like, "Um, did I just hear that?  Did anyone else just hear that?"

Yes indeed.  standards these days are just falling like rain.

... service at restaurants
... how long a car lasts
... getting a good cup of coffee

It used to be so much easier to get away with rape, gosh darn it.

Sorry mate,

Gotta call bull shit on that one.

There`s a zillion fuck`n ways to work that situation out, without forcing your dick into someone, who clearly has changed her/his mind.Any gentleman knows that.

How many people change their minds in the last moment?

It`s a scary deal for some females. There should be no penalty for that.

No is no.

Nobody in their right mind would advocate that the stronger should be allowed to force the weaker to do anything, let alone have sex.
I'm speaking here of  a general civic/legal principle.
The fact remains IMO that this issue is not simple and women can behave sexually, whether unwittingly or not, in a way that unleashes some very primitive drives that may not be able to be contained..

A mature legal system will recognise that fact IMO.

I do not know what the law is where you live but here in the states it is illegal to take a shit on a public sidewalk.  I am sure that you would agree that the ability to control ones hormones are somewhat easier to do than ones bowels.  It would follow then that if you are required by society to control your bowels so also are you compelled to control your emotions.
I would hope that you would agree that a mature gentleman would also be able to comprehend that in English  no does not mean "yeah baby I like it rough".

Good, I got a couple I wanna send your way and have you turn them for me, and then send them up my way.

Do it 'cause I am 'cute', K?

The first 2 clues should have been the words 'Tennessee' and 'Senator' at the beginning of the article....anything after that is suspect.
