I think you have to have a positive view of yourself.

It's sometimes hard to think of yourself and not get aroused. I draw myself a warm bath...Surround the tub with candles, add some aroma therapy and the serene sounds of a lake lapping up against the shore. I slowly take my right hand and slowly have it meander down the "treasure trail" till it reaches pay dirt...Uh oh!... Something just sprung up!...Got to go see a man about a horse....I'll be back in ten minutes.

well like i said..i dont hate myself..i just dont think i love myself.  simply put, i hate my life situation.  there is no possible way out of the circle that i am currently in.  what it does to me is kill any positive thinking because i cant get out of a rut.  it is what happens when your left isolated and without friends.  when your disabled and have no real income.  those two things alone if they were different, i certainly would be different.  having things to do is important.
it helps the esteem because your being productive.  it makes you happy.  my energy level is almost completely gone because of my health.  nothing can be done to fix it until they finally decide to get my surgery done.  (6th one)  its been delayed now 13 yrs and should have been done in 1994 (10 yrs after my 5th surgery).  but well i wont get into it more...its more for a private msg.

*hugs you and cries*  very similar emotional circumstances, and i'm sorry that you are going through this too.

Right there with the both of you.  I am finally getting diagnosis of a condition that has affected my entire life with no real explanation until now.  The news is devestating and may not be complete as yet, but I am thankful that now there can be treatment and understanding.  We will journey together.

I don't know about love, but I like myself alot..:). Maybe not quite as much as domi, but still I wouldnp;t want to be with anyone who didn't like themselves.

Its been said..."If you don't love yourself, you can't expect someone else to love you."
I think I disagree with this....I mean, I don't LOVE myself....heavy like maybe. [;)] Now I get the meaning of that saying....but I think more accurate might be...Its easier for someone to love you, if you love yourself.
Thoughts?...

I agree with the concept.. . but just because you can't expect someone else to love you doesn't mean that another doesn't or couldn't love you.  In fact.. there are many that don't love themselves and there are others that love them very much.   The issue is that when a person doesn't love themselves it makes it very difficult to believe that anyone else could love them.  If we can't believe that another would love us... how would this affect our relationships?  How well could trust develop in our relationships?  Can we really have an enduring and healthy relationship if we have no or little love for ourselves.

The phrase speaks to the quality of relationships we can have when we hold no love for yourselves and no so much whether another does or doesn't love us.
