I once read an article that described 7 different types of submissives.Needless to say I have lost the article. Can anyone help ?

Here are the 9 degrees of submission, I know MANY don't like this list, but I DO!!!!
I like to show "potentials" this list to see if they can honestly assess where they are.

Yeah, I posted a link to the 9 levels of submission, plus the discussion that always ensues when you try to box people into a label that is that specific. I say no thanks, but that's just how I think.

Although each individual is unique, after a few years of observation, this slave has come to the conclusion that "levels" or "types" of submissives or submission are just different versions of the same theme. None is more or less better than the other, and there is no "heirarchy", in this slave's mind.

Some versions witnessed, either here at CM, or other places where D/s folk gather:

Getting some Yin to my Yang

they have either a major Dominant role elsewhere in their life, or a whole bunch of Dominant roles in their life, and embracing submission of some controlled type eases the pressures, balances their psyche, and/or provides joy to their existance.

Romance-based

as soon as there is romance in play, they submit to the object of their affection. it is very closely related to the "Inspired" type, in that the "romance" is the inspiration and driving force behind their willingness to submit. take away the romance and the submission is revoked as well.

Inspired

similar to the "Romance-based", they are inspired to submit by a particular person. it could be that person's intelligence, sense of humor, comportment, physical attributes, etc. but it is distinguished from the Romantic type in that no romance is necessary to achieve the same submissive inclination.

Sexually-Oriented, or Sensation-based

submissive behind closed bedroom or Dungeon doors is their primary motivation. they might agree to submit to a few areas outside the bedroom, but the sexual aspect is the primary motivator.

Personality

for some, submission is a knee-jerk, possibly conditioned or natural, automatic reaction. it is how they respond to the world around them and is only specifically pointed at one person when they are involved in a relationship with them.

Apprenticeship

not exactly sure if they want to claim a specific label or orientation, they enter into the s side of the slash as a part of their onging process...they "earn their wings", so to speak, and move on to being a Dominant partner, with the idea that they have a better understanding of D/s, because they have experienced submission first-hand.

4. TRUE SUBMISSIVE - NON SLAVE - Really gives up control (though only temporarily and within agreed-upon limits), but gets her/his main satisfaction from aspects of submission, other than serving or being used by the dominant. Usually turned on by suspense, vulnerability, and/or giving up responsibility. Doesn't dictate the scene except in very general terms, but still seeks mainly his/her own direct pleasure (rather than getting one's pleasure mainly from pleasing dominant

It's the most poisonous thing ever written in the scene to make people not only believe that there are easy labeled boxes for such things, but that they can be comparable to eachother and superior to one another.

How about the Philosophy of D/s on the basis of the Celestine Prophesy?

The first insight: Vanilla is not the only flavour.

The second insight: You are not alone - there are a whole range of flavours. You may not like them all but sampling is a good thing.
