There's an increasing amount of profiles that show a basic lack of understanding of what one might do and what one is.

Could it be a slightly more educated Nigerian scammer, with sets of better stolen pics, who is behind this head-shaking increase of those saying they are "a dominate"?

Tsk tsk.  Or, are our schools really getting this bad?

Anyways, rock on.

Dear Aileen, I hope that's not the case.  But, for sure, if these profiles don't belong to Nigerian scammers, then these "dominates" can't be too serious about the lifestyle.

I walk the fence on this one, being in global marketing, where English is the preferred language it is not the FIRST  language--I think some of it is the ESL issue---many non English speaking peoples take the language, translate it mentally, prepare their response in language then retranslate back out to English---and English is darn hard.
 
Combine that with the fact that our schools are  really that bad--so I think its a bit of both. I do try to be patient, but then I lose it--so I am far from perfect---problem with spell check is that it doesn't correct usage in a venue like this.

oh My... I made this mistake once.... to My great shame....

On the defence side, I'll say that as I'm French and that English really is NOT My language, I tend to make more mistakes in it.... BUT, it's annoying, so I do My very best to learn and to correct Myself!

It's a depressing reality, but most of the people I've noticed using "dominate" as a noun cannot use ESL as an excuse. Far too many EFL'ers don't even have a decent command of their primary language.

I usually chalk it up to the hordes of online wankers wanting to live a fantasy existence online which they entirely lack the capacity to persue in their lives offline.  Nigerian or otherwise.

This may sound Odd but there is also the possibility that they are somewhat like me who types VERY fast and I offten correctly Misspell words because they look right. I offten Exchange

Dominant = Dominate
Master = Mister

I wonder if it is a form of dyslexia (Sp?) but so far no answer.

I am just forgiving I would rather see thier thought process on the subject rather than thier ability to spell. I would like to know if thier Philosophy is admirable rather than thier ability to spell because I know many Dom's who never graduated Highschool and are GREAT at what they do.

Since when is being able to Spell a requirement for a TWUE Master anyway?

I suspect the schools are just that bad, most of them focus on teaching test taking (SAT, the CATS) rather than actually thinking and learning. In Masters case however it is a bit of dyslexia when he reads something back before posting it actually reads to him as Dominant instead of Dominate. If he is home when he posts, I try to proof-read for him. Spell check won't catch words that are spelled right but wrong context.

Oh God, Nigerians, Esl'ers, blah and blah. NO, it IS that schools are now that bad and American schools are recognized globally for being poor. American children are and have been in a school day, week and year that is much shorter than most of the rest of the world. The requirements to graduate are also set much lower than other requirements globally. I have been involved with many school systems around the world and look to a shame occuring in my home country of America. Standards have dropped to a minimum and books have been written such as 'Johnny Can't Read.'  Look at the profile pics of the folks writing this way and if you were a Nigerian, are you going to put up a photo of some fat or slobby guy and claim to be from East Butt Cheek Tennessee?? No offense to Tennessee, I could have picked any state and all of them have an East Butt Cheek.

Come on folks these are Americans who do not, for the most part, know the difference between a verb, a noun or an adjective. They cannot spell, think they are spelling correctly so have no use for a spell checker. CMail one of them and ask them to conjugate a verb. Most would have to look up the word conjugate first or will just tell you to fuck off. Discounting dyslexics et al from the mix, most of them seem to be 30-40 something and probably didn't make it out of high school. If they did graduate at least high school, then it is because the American educational system runs on a pass just to get them out and up their graduate totals. This was happening when I was in high school and is now a bigger problem than ever.

I also agree with the theory that they have no clue what living an alternative lifestyle is and therefore will never take it offline. There is great wank fodder on these sites and plenty who are willing to oblige in fulfilling a jerk off.

I've not come across these profiles myself. This topic however I've come across on more than one occasion. 'I r dominate' is one that comes to mind. We are all constantly subjected to spam in various locations that makes the genuine hard to spot.

i think that all folks that misuse the english language should be tarred and feathered and after the seagulls pluck out thier eyeballs they should be thrown in to the ocean.

i do not think that anyone, should extend a single compassionate finger, let alone hand, to reach out and steward neophites in any way shape or form.
