I did see a tv show on them.. kind of sad.. the kids get picked on...

It kinda squicked even me.. ( I do not like body hair)

Any time humans come across someone or something different from them fear, repulsion, and eventualy it's destruction is the end result.

Even slight differances from the norm are not well tolerated.

Kids with glasses get picked on... I can't imagine what that hairy little kid from that village must go through.

Celtic is correct.. there are those who have the condition Porphyria there are also Sanguinarian's and Psi's ( also known as Psi-Vamps ) out there. Some times the goth role players get mixed into these groups and it is hard to tell the real ones from the role players.. ( you think the Goreans are a cliquish lot.. ha!) and then you get hybrids who use both Sang and Psi in which to "feed" or get sustance. We are not even going to get into "other kin" here.
As I often quote... " There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, Then are dreamt of in your philospphy" People are very quick to dismiss things they know very little about or do not wish to know about.

Sanguinarians for the most part ( I am not the approved spokesperson mind you) feel that there is a life force and energy in the blood its self. There fore when they consume it, ( In the Society it is only acceptiable to consume from a willing Donor. Donors are usualy a Partner, or someone you have a commitment to of some sort...) they are partaking of that life force, and power with that person. Many in the society are against actualy biting.. and many safety measures are taught on how to carefuly take blood from a donor. Donors are generaly very well taken care of, looked after and protected. All in all it is very akin to D/s in many ways. Psi's have thier own little niche... They believe that every one has energy that can be obtained either through touch, or through drawing it out with out touch. Some prefer different types of energy. Sexual, saddness, anger, fear, happiness... Some will search out donors who exhibit these things.. or some will go about to cause these things in those near them so they can feed. ( that is where it can be ickie) Some believe in having consenting donors.. some feed off of crowds.. some off of individuals who have no idea. Some Psi's do not realize thier feeding patterns untill someone points it out to them. ( some do not even realize they are a Psi ) We have all met those people who just suck the energy out of a room... or brighten up a room simply by walking into it. That is a good sign they are prob. a Psi. It is decently frequent you will get a rogue Psi in a group or area that needs to learn about consentual donorship. *smiles* Generaly the groups police thier own.

There have been long debates on the benifits or downfalls of being a Sang. or Psi. As well as that of a Donor. As for turning into a bat, flying.. turning into mist or smoke.. I would have to say I have not seen any of that manifest personaly with any one I have come across.

I hope this explains and helps a bit.

Gwyn

In regards Psi vamps...it should be stated that Einstein stated that energy moves everything around us, and is very relevant in everything that we do.

Not saying I believe in one way or the other...the idea is romantic and fascinating, but....in truth....I dont think we will ever know.

Ok, so I set down my book long enough to catch this heading go scrolling by.  Amazed.  Vamps have been on my mind all day!

Oh lord.  Get it right people!  Vampires are humans.  They were injected with nanos in Atlantis.  There is not a lot of vampires walking around because they are only allowed one child per 100 years and they can only turn one person in their life.  You dont get turned by being bitten, you get turned by ingesting the blood from a vamp.  Now, as for the nanos, they repair the body constantly.  But they consume the blood.  Its like their fuel.  Therefore, the vamp must continue to consume blood.  Vamps can go in sunlight, but the sun is harmful to all of us and being a vamp, with those nanos running thru them, they are constantly being healed.  Well, the more work for the nanos the more blood they need.  Hense the desire to stay out of the sun.  They also eat real food in case you are wondering.  And there is less than 500 of them total.  If there were too many there would be no blood for them.

Oh, and as for psy vamps, I've had people tell me that I am one and thats my problem.  They say thats why when I go in a room I can feel when someone is upset or angry or happy.  Sometimes I feel like I cant breathe when there are angry people, eventhough they haven't shown that they are angry.  I believe everyone has the ability to be sensitive to these things.....some dont realize its there and some block it out.  PsyVamp?  Idk, but I did read up on it a long time ago, and of course watched the doc on vamps.  Love me some good vamp stories!!  Interesting thought, these PsyVamps.

3 Vampires like werewolves are just stories told long ago to profit off peoples fears.

One of my friends observed a werewolf up close in the winter of about 1976. He estimated it had a mass of 250 to 300 kilogrammes. I believe him.

What ever you see under the influance of acid is always true.

I aplaude you wishfulness but if Werewolves, Vampires, or the Frankistein Monster were real we would know by now.

Now there are the formentioned people who are covered with hair, the nuts who think they are Werewolve (cant remember the scientific name for than mental disorder) the freaks who think they need to drink blood and the gulible people who think they can suck out people's psyhic energy(BTW the arua camera was disproven when a french scientist put an electromagnet under it and took picture that matched identacly with so called Human Psyhic Energy)

But there is nothing unexplain able out the any more Science has replaced superstistion.

You may enjoy the novel 'The Historian' (sorry I haven't the author at hand, the book is downstairs). It is an interesting blend of folklore and historical fact told from the views of three different people whos timelines all intertwine. It winds from the Ottoman Empire to America, written in a rather beautiful manner. Nothing gory or horror ridden but a wonderfully told tale that brings it (the history of Dracula and the history of the physical area) vividly to life.

OH! I forgot, in case you all didnt realize, vampires also dine on blood on bagged blood from the blood banks (which they own many of) and rarely feed "off the hoof" and only when in dire need.

Just wanted to clear things up :)

im not really insane, just happen to be right in the middle of a good vamp novel.... Not that I wouldnt LOVE to be a vamp.  Damn, the rockstar life!!
