it's more akin to racism than anything else, the whole food chain thing is like a skewed way of looking at supply and demand at best. we're not looking at lions and elks here, and it's not even about rank in the comparison.
sure you can throw around numbers like 1 in 16 black americans are in prison, and likewise all sides of the table in bdsm have their own sets of statistics of how many are like "this or that". surely few would also doubt the majority of wankers here are men, (dominant or not) and that women (dominant or not) are the ones most often barraged with their crap. but like race, what group you are seperated into doesn't put anything into terms of the individual, or their value, or who will be of value to them.
submissive males "could be" the majority unwanted, and the majority of them "could be" worthless; my opinion would probably lead me to believe that to be true, and within some measure see some sort of relevance to the food chain statement because most of the submissive males i see are not so awesome as some of the ones i see on the forums, i see too many "do me's". but we're all so different, it's really hard to group even us that are likeminded together. but "we" and "they" and "you" are all sought after regardless of whether the supply and demand is balanced.
for dominant males to have this view of submissive males is conceivably true in some degree simply because the majority probably does not care about "us" who don't likely concern them, so we likely are going to be held in lower regards, or adversely simply because some have an inferiority complex. i would likewise neither put dominant males on the highest of pedestals, simply because they're not of my own concern, and for the most part i don't even respect them either by default, but i must acknowledge they are of just as much of value to some people as the female side is of value to me and the submissive's are of value to others. if the dominants are important, so to will be the submissives. etc. etc.
but hell, if the mistresses are the lions and tigers, why would i really want to be high up on the food chain in the first place? i'd rather be what they're hunting for than what they avoid, also i'm quite happy with being pounced~
