I can see some valid reasons why the younger crowd would like to have their own get together.
Some of the above reasons are good, there could also be the 'shyness' factor (which I STILL have) but, had I known about bdsm at 21, I would have felt more comfortable in a group of those my own age, there's also the 'dirty old man/woman' factor. Not all subs want to be bothered by people who are quite a bit older except as friends, so why would you want to talk about 'certain things' in front of them and get their hormones all worked up?
I do admit to being jealous of the young munchers here...they seem to have a lot of fun events. Lucky lil brats! *lol*

While many groups discriminate against those under 21, and almost universally against those under 18, I don't know of any group that doesn't allow someone over 21 to go to their munches.

As for the older groups, it depends.  Some are very strict and simply DO NOT allow anyone over the age limit (usually 35) to attend no matter what.  Some allow if you are a partner of a younger person, you may attend.  Austin has what's called a "Voyagers" group which tries to cater to the youngsters, but is more about being NEW and so you'll find any age there.

In DC there was recent controversy when some people were aging out of the TNG group and decided to make their own group calling it "TNG" but pretty much just raising the age range so they could stay in it.  Lots of local scene politics and grudges went into that mess.

I don't agree with the age seperation, im 23 and my Master is much older. I enjoy spending time with the older crowd so if I had to go to a younger group I probably wouldn't go. If I was single and looking I wouldnt want nor trust a Dom that was my age. No offense to Doms around my age but I would want someone with more experience and years behind them.

Oh no, i hope not...  balls are fun to play with, whether they sag a bit or are tight and hard.       Just ignore my comments Guys, and let the balls swing freely.

I think seperate munches can be a good thing, I also think that if you only attend the one for your little section of the community you might be missing out, and or depriving te others of what you might have to offer.

I don't attend many munches anymore, simply have a lack of time but when I do attend them we tend to go to several different ones. We like to cross the boarders back and forth. Keeping freinds on all sides. We also tend to reject and repel the politics that way. Folks know we have freinds in all the munches and we tell folks flat out the first person who expects to run my life in as much as who I am freinds with will be the one who gets dropped first. LOL

If you ask me to take sides I will but usually against you, because you forced the issue.
