MisPandora -> Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 9:11:37 AM)

When I'm on the boards, I look at the users viewing the forum.  In the past, it's always been a smattering here of fem doms, male subs, a few fem subs, and an errant male dom every now and again.  This week (and perhaps I'm just not watching more closely to notice that ot's been going on longer than that) I have noticed that at least 30% of the people viewing the Ask a Mistress forum identify as a male dominant.  What's more interesting, I don't see the same reflected in the population looking at the Master forum.  I know there is no "territory" restrictions here on CM, but it's left me curious as to why this phenomenon is happening!

So I'm curious -- domly-type guys....why do you view and post here on the Mistress boards as opposed to other forums?

*Edited for a typo*

LadyLynx -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 9:41:37 AM)

Probably for the same reason why I post where I want. If I feel I have a valid comment on the topic, then regardless of where the post is at,there it goes.  Not sure why more Dominant ladies don't post in The Masters section............hmmmm.  Basically I am just glad that most of the Male Doms have been polite,(and often humorous such as Jefff, or Ron.)

I just thought it was an interesting observation, was all.  I don't really see all too many femdoms going elsewhere starting pissing contests like we see starting here.  That almost makes me wonder whether some here on this board of the female persuasion are the one's who are territorial and defensive....

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 9:55:05 AM)

I get what you're saying about territory....  whenver one of the guys comes over here and tries to get all uppity, I get Extracranky.  This is the MISTRESS forum.  The folks that hang here by and large are here for discussing the female dom way of things.  Personally, I am happy to see all interested parties posting---as long as they don't start behaving as if they were on their own turf, and dissing the rest of us.

I do not venture into the Gorean Zone.  Good on those that do!  If I did venture there, I would not use my time to pontificate on the superiority of my personal worldview, or demonstrate my advanced intelligence which is so much better than anyone else's here now or ever.  I would not speak rudely to those other posters, and I would not presume to judge them in my out loud voice.  I would certainly not bring my posse over to back me up.   Why not, when my feelings about Gor, and about many male dominants, are pretty obvious?  Because I know how to behave!  Courtesy is free, and I pass it around.  I avoid reading the views of those that I know in advance are going to make my head explode.  When they get in my face, I am polite--up to a point.

I would never say that there should be anything but open discussion here, but yanno?  I don't appreciate someone deliberately spitting on my floor because that's how they behave at home.  If that makes me territorial, so be it.

Well duh!

ShaktiSama -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 10:03:43 AM)

Lol.  It comes down to one word:  entitlement.  Some male dominants come here specifically to assert dominance over women and other men, usually when they feel the sanctity of Boy Domliness or Maleness In General has been challenged in some way.  These men are VERY territorial and defensive, certainly as much or more as female dominant could ever be--the difference is that they have no sense of proportion.  They don't stick to one or two "territories".  They think they own the whole damn world, including the Mistress forum of CM, if someone challenges traditional male authority.

The reason you don't see female dominants rushing off to the Master and Gorean forums to disrupt their discussions, belittle female submissives by calling them "girl" and try to antagonize and infantilize male dominants by calling them crap like "boy", "inferior", and "little upstart" is....we don't care.  Quite frankly, most of us don't give a damn what male dominants think of womanhood in general--we've pretty much accepted that their worldview is unlikely to apply to us or the men in our lives.  So long as male doms can behave respectfully or generally be good guests when they post to the Mistress forum, and post the opinions/fantasies that are likely to offend us somewhere else, where we don't have to read it--we see no reason to roam the boards looking for trouble.

I would agree with Lady Lynx that there are some male doms whose posts to this forum are always at least funny, and sometimes also helpful and wise.  I think Ronne looks lovely in a dress.  [:D]  But there are also men who come here simply because they do not want women to have power anywhere.  They are not hard to spot, once they pull the same stunt a few times.  And once their agenda becomes clear, they aren't hard to ignore.

*laffing*  Well, that was along the lines of My intended response!

I figured it was because they found us irresistable?

I am sorta kinda with Francine on this.  Actually, for the most part I don't mind it since there is usually humor and/or respect and insightfullness in the offerings.  But there have been those dismissive and superior posts here and there.  Particularly on certain topics! I don't appreciate it, nor do I wander over into the  Master, Gorean, etc. I have probably made two or three posts in the Master forums in all My years on this side.  Mainly because I don't subscribe and the topics hold little interest for Me on the whole.
So I have wondered about this on occasion too!
Kudos to Jeffff for being brave enough to enter and add his typically humorous view on this thread!  Now where's Ron(ne)?

Dnomyar -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 11:13:09 AM)

Mostly different topics on here and seeing a womans point of view. I read the ones that get to the point and skip over the long ones.

LordVelvet -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 12:16:36 PM)

Pandora,
For Me it is more where a topic strikes something. I may read the thread and not post, as My numbers show, but from what others have wrote I have talked to many great people on this site. Now I am listed as a Switch so this thread isn't about Me anyway but I still wanted to reply. Those are My thoughts.

Lashra -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 4:19:56 PM)

I frequent the Master boards from time to time, I go there seeking interesting topics and information, occasional humor. I post there and dont' have any problems. I figure the Doms come here for the same reason. Oh occasionally you will get one who acts like a retarded steroid eating crackhead and I just say what I want to say and ignore them. I mean this is the internet, its filled with "different" people so you either ignore them or let them get under your skin. Frankly my skin is too thick for that.

As for the other forums I go to those too, I don't bother with the G forum as they live on another planet than myself so I don't worry about them. There is no information, topic or humor to be found there that pertains to my world.

SixFootMaster -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 5:06:09 PM)

I come here mostly because it concerns me when I see a closed culture approach - that's the breeding ground of ignorance and ultimately damaging to any participants.

In the Ask a Master forum, there's no evidence that anyone really cares who responds to which posts, and lends their insight from their own experiences. There's no real expression of territory. Quite the opposite of here.

I invite you to revisit some of the recent threads and see what I mean - there is a growing practice of self-affirmation/validation in this forum. It's sort of like mental inbreeding, it's why fresh blood and variant opinions - no matter how much you disagree with the point of view - is always a necessity. I'm not sure if it's a case of something that women naturally do in supporting each other, or a result of the sort of isolationist attitude that is put forward here. I do know that it concerns me, so I come over now and then just to give a bit of balance and an opinion from a different mindset and perspective. I'm not here particularly to piss anyone off, honestly, I wouldn't think in a forum of dominant women I'd have that kind of control [;)]. It's a danger for any insular community, that affirmation and validation will take the place of accuracy and reasoning.

There are some here that refuse to listen to alternate opinions simply because they were given by a man, and men are the oppressors and evil beings. Others take a much more open minded approach, and it is for them - and the people reading but not commenting - that I come here.

It's the same here. About 50% of the people that view my profile are male doms...

FTC, I view a lot of female dominant profiles, almost exclusively because they've viewed mine first and I'm curious who is peeking.

Six,

LadyPact -> RE: Curious: why so many male doms (3/3/2008 5:32:46 PM)

Probably for the same reason that I'll pop over to the other side of the gender board.  (Why doesn't that sound right?)  Interesting topics can be found on both boards, though it's My personal opinion that there are more frequent new topics and replies to posts on this board, rather than the other.  That might go back to that theory of females being more expressive than males.  Actually, a Dom in a posting kind of mood could run through the recent posts on "Ask A Master" rather quickly.

I will agree with one thing that SixFoot mentioned, and that is the noteworthy lack of  any notice being paid to whether a poster is male or female on the other forum.  There are quite a few females that I see post regularly, on both sides of the kneel.

Six,

Same here, I only view the profiles of the people that have viewed mine.

Other viewpoints are welcome.  Rudeness, high handed behavior, and name calling are not.  Simple.

That goes for both genders.

Exactly.  Even a top should know his or her place, and circle of authority.
