Despite the chaps bravery at chucking a defenceless creature, it is by no means saying he is a brave person.He even might be one of those that duck bullets and has to use barbarity to show how brave he is.He might be in an alien land fighting who knows what, but if he did that in the US I wonder what the reprecussions would be. I take it you over there act on animal cruelty. (My apologies to you in the US for my last sentance, I know here the reprecussions, but I do not know your system aside from public decency)

It's a misdeameanor in my state. They tried to make animal cruelty a felony a few years ago, but the farming interests raised holy living hell about it. They were afraid the law would be used by animal rights activists to prosecute people for branding cattle and the like.

Marines are taught from day 1 in boot camp that you don't make war on innocents. Nowhere in this man's training was he informed otherwise.

I didn't have a problem with making certain acts of cruelty a felony. The group that sponsored the legislation said specifically they were targeting depraved acts of cruelty by future serial killers. I don't have a problem with that at all. People like that should have the full heel of the law brought down on them. However, they also wanted to go after cock fighting (which is primarily something that happens in the hispanic community.) So you have a cultural bias and undertones of racism there. The law was vague and didn't really outline who was prosecutable. They could have gone after rodeos in theory, which is a big deal in this part of the country. It wouldn't have been the big farming interests that would have been affected. They pour billions of dollars into the economy. It would have been the little people that got stepped on. That was my problem with it.

i was a manager of a SPCA in NC for some time, and i regretfully inform You that what You witnessed was really tame compared to, well ..... as revolting as that Marines actions were all i would say is ...... In the event You would like to make a difference, swing by Your local animal shelter and if at all possible .... volunteer ..... even a half hour a week makes a galaxy of difference, i assure You. We adored it when folks would (after filling out the necessary paperwork) just pop in and brush a cat, or come by and take a dog for a walk on their lunch hour. Even though i reside in a different state, i do so as much where i live now ...... and i involve my two children as well. Is diffcult to visit a shelter ...... nevertheless, is far more heinous to reside Your last days in such a place without so much as one good walk. Give it a go if You can, You won't regret it. b.~

Anyone that does not care about harming or destroying a living thing shows a lack of humanity, no matter who or what the cruelty and lack of respect for life is directed towards. Cruelty is abhorrant, and it honestly sickens me how inhumane humans can be. Humankind can claim to be civilized and advanced, yet read the newspapers, watch the news, and one can see that it is only a front.
