Teeny tiny bit OCD...but hey, the two responses above just agreed with me about the promptness thing...

camille65 -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 6:57:41 AM)

If I knew someone was deliberately causing themselves to be late for a first meet, then for me there would be no second meet. Generally I get super nervous way way ahead of time and then calm down when the actual event arrives. I do go through the whole 'hair, makeup & outfit' thing, changing my mind every few minutes.

Do you keep in steady contact? Either by email or telephone.
Or do you prefer the suspense of limited or no contact?

steady contact is best esp if something comes up like oldest UM suddenly gets sick. suspend contact and i think you're no longer interested in meeting.

quote:

Would you be unsure about the meeting if you did not receive daily contact?

see last answer above.

quote:

Would you still go to agreed upon rendezvous if you did not receive an absolute confirmation to be there the day prior to the scheduled date?

no i would not - why waste time waiting for someone who didn't confirm or cancel prior to the meeting.

I have to seriously agree with both of your answers. If i am aware of what is happening, to use your example, one of the ums got sick, i am not going to feel rejected or angry if you do not make that meeting.

If i am left wondering my immediate reaction is kiss my ass. Barring of course something horrible like you were in a car accident or something like that.

And if we set up a meet, damn straight i expect a last minute email or phone call that we are still on. No way do i want to go through all the trouble of showing up to be stood up.

(note here; i am happily collared, i am just curious about this subject due to incidents past and a current discussion i am having with someone dear to me)

Like any date/first time meeting, I go thru these feelings.  By the time I'm ready to leave, however, I tend to look in the mirror and say "damn, honey...you look great!" and I just go and enjoy.

Oh....if I could just go out w/out the "butterflies" it would so much easier.

I find the fear adds to the excitement, its one of my fave things about meeting someone new, you dont know whats going to happen, maybe you wont like each other maybe you will make a friend etc etc I always think back to what i felt like before and get a bit like oh my gosh how silly but i wouldnt get rid of it.

Hope last night went well :)

RedMagic1 -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:04:21 AM)

I always show up exactly at the time I told her I would.  I want her to understand, from jump, that if I say I am going to do something, I do it.

It inspires her to follow my orders if she sees me doing the same thing.

That splains it.  You do have panache.  I like your style.

And please..........

JUST FUCKING SAY "CHILDREN!"  The TOS only prohibits you from saying things like "children fucking."

Thank you.

It behooves us all to be discreet on certain subjects. Your post will be pulled shortly anyway i think.

Wow.....this is inspiration I could use!  You know....mind games are fun, but first impressions are important. That's why I take the time to look good and show up at the appointed time.
More importantly, the understanding what you say is what you mean is something few get.

ums ums ums ums ums ums ums ums ums ums ums ums ums

sorry had to be done

On topic, i HATE people being late HATE HATE HATE HATE its rude and uncalled for. If you arrange a meeting bloody be there on time, if you arent going to be phone as soon as you know or text (the beauty of modern technology) I am crap with time, this is something I am aware of so I always set out far earlier than i need to. People who turn up saying oh i couldnt find my keys/stuck in traffic/got chatting wind me up, there is no worse was to start a meeting, it quite catagorically states how unimportant the person finds you, if they cant find the keys/get stuck in traffic/get chatting then bloody get in touch and say so. I know life happens but sitting in a bar on your own for half an hour is the most annoying thing. I had this one guy who was late EVERY time we met, and i was like bloody leave the house earlier. We had huge rows about it because its not fair to the person sitting around getting dodgy looks from leery men (maybe thats just me)

CarrieO -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:17:25 AM)

You're right, colouredin....the fear does add to the excitment.

BTW....lastnight was great <wink wink>!

RedMagic1 -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:20:17 AM)

There are a gazillion new people joining.  Using "um" in a sentence is bad communication.  It is holding a barrier of terminology between you and people who don't understand you -- to become a twue CM poster you have to speak this way.  Bullshit.  It's gotten so common, people don't realize that the use of "um" is completely unnecessary.

If you want people to understand you, talk in an understandable fashion.

The only email I've ever gotten from a Moderator was positive.  We'll see if that changes today.

Wow the Mods have never emailed me i feel really gutted now :(

I dont like ums either normally because I forget what it means and feel like an idiot. then i remember and im like yeah but we dont have to say that word. To be honest tho people have got into the habit of it and thats fine isnt it, you cant help that.

MissHarlet -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:28:27 AM)

LDRs are challenging that is for sure!!

But some love them saying that when they do see each other it is always a honeymoon

MasterWilliam55 -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:31:19 AM)

I'm with RedMagic on this one. I appreciate promptness and go out of the way to be on time myself. If possible, I exchange cell phone numbers so if one of us is going to be late, had a change of mind or whatever, we can notify the other. It's the responsible thing to do. I expect nothing on a first date and try to keep the conversation friendly and light. I'm a bit nervous on occassion but mask it well. I'm patient and respectful but at some point in the conversation I want to talk about what brought us together in the first place. I tend to meet people in my own community, whom I've met before at munches etc or have had a good dialogue on-line.

Maya2001 -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:32:55 AM)

I have to agree with you RedMagic1,  I hate the use of ums ...makes children sound like some kind of strange clan of  alien beings , as long as children are not being discussed in relation to sex acts  there should be not reason why you cannot refer to them as children, child, son, daughter, niece, nephew ,  grandchildren etc which is what I do  and have not seen any of my posts pulled as a result.

giveeverything -> RE: First Meeting Behavior. (3/6/2008 7:43:50 AM)

Big Sigh!  I am going to meet a dom whom I have been having an unexpectedly intense phone relationship with for the last six months.  Flying there..... butterflies, insecurities, (managable amount of) anxiety.  I haven't succeeded yet in losing the ten pounds I wanted to.  I still need to find a great outfit.  I got my hair done.  I'm going to have a pedicure.  I imagine what it will be like to see him for the first time.  Anybody else feel the overwhelming insecurity -- what if he doesn't like me, what if he thinks I have a fat ass, what if what if what if?
