What do you think the difference between a sub and slave is? (well and a Dom and Master for that matter)

Just curious since the few people I have discussed this with have differing answers to each other, and my own thoughts.

Hense why I asked, because I am curious to see any patterns in the answers, plus I am interesting to hear more thoughts on the subject.

The biggest difference in a sub and slave is ownership.  A sub can be a friend, partner, etc, while a slave is part of your own soul.  At least my slave is.  I help him sometimes, and he helps me with things.   It is more like a marriage than a going steady relationship.

If you type "slave verses sub", or "difference between slave and sub" into the search parameters on the top of the page on the right hand side you can read all the past threads on this topic which are innumerous and search for patterns from a variety of different posters.

Depends on the individual relationship. You cannot chop your slave's head of for attempting to run away from you, despite what some think. In either case the s in question has the right to stop the dynamic anytime they decide to and call the cops to enforce it.

It's all a matter of headspace, do you enjoy thinking of yourself/your partner as property or not.  If so, then you can call yourself a slave, if not then call yourself a sub. I know of people who live in different countries and call themselves 24/7 slaves and I know of those who live and work together and call themselves subs.

Thanks Sinergy, I wondered before I started the thread if it was done numerous times before, but a lack of time at the moment means is was easier to start a new thread and read the responses later. Anyway I need sleep, take care all.

Des that first point you made I cannot agree with you more, and that type of attitude that a slave/sub cannot leave bugs me.

Again?  Really?  Someone please say that we're joking, or that it's a bad nightmare.

To the OP:  Ok.  Another case of someone asking a question that has been rehashed I can't tell you how many times before.  It takes no less time to type the question into the search function than it does to create a new post.  If you do so, you will find, literally, thousands of responses to various threads based on this particular pondering.  Enjoy the reading.  May I wish you well.

I am currently seeing a woman who calls herself submissive.  I have never even felt up a woman who calls herself a slave.

Therefore, submissives are awesome  and slaves are mean.

Everyone else who takes a strong position uses logic like that, too.

Your're kidding, right?  This topic has been done to death.  There is still no real answer.

Slave?  Didn't Lincoln free them? I, speaking for I alone, find that term so offensive.  But then again, I define myself as a liberal feminist submissive so who knows.  I do NOT think that the wording of slave over sub makes the relationship more close or intense, that is merely semantics.  I would not allow anyone to refer to me me as his slave.

We have no answers because we  haven't discussed the matter fully. Thoroughly. Without cease.

I would beg to differ that there's any difference at all... yet all the difference in the world to each of us individually.

By your definition I am FirmhandKY's submissive... but also his slave.

Am I?

Some would argue that I am not a slave.  I do not label myself a slave, but then again, I do not really care.  I personally don't think there's any difference but what Firm thinks is what matters to me.

Does Firm consider me his slave?  Honestly, I do not know.  He's never made an issue of it one way or the other so I assume it doesn't matter to him what I am called... so long as our relationship is what he wants and it pleases him.
