souls going through intake for Masturbation!"

Surely, you meant "massturbation".

The good news is, hell and the devil were invented to put the mother of all fears in people and keep them marching right on the straight and narrow, so it doesn't exist.

The other good news for those thermophobics out there who insist on believing in myths and legends, Dante demonstrated that the inner circle of hell is bloody freezing.

Pack your anoraks.

DominorSomnium -> RE: Pope - "New 'sins'; more ways to go to hell!" (3/10/2008 11:51:42 AM)

I love the descriptions in inferno. I am going to get some of the more interesting woodcuts as tattoos soon, or draw my own as a sleeve, with the 9th circle at my wrist.

popeye1250 -> RE: Pope - "New 'sins'; more ways to go to hell!" (3/10/2008 11:52:04 AM)

So, if you wack off one time when you're 13 years old you're fuckin' doomed? lol
"Fuck this! I may as well keep going!"
"If I'm going to hell anyway I might as well be a "Masturbation Machine!"
I remember when I got accepted into a sperm doner program years ago in Maine after all kinds of tests.
I was driving back to the base and was thinking to myself; "Shit, now they want to pay me $30 a donation for doing this and all those years I was doing it for nothing!"
"Thankyou God!"
I immediately started doing the math; "hmm, $30 times 25 per week..."

Considering the amount of lapse Catholics I encounter on a regular basis, there doesn't seem to be  much "draw" in the Church. They need better PR, and a serious refurbishing of their fundamental beliefs - they're stuck in a timewarp. I respect people who go quietly about their religious beliefs without clamoring to know how others should behave; I particularly like monks, for example. And those that act upon their faith as a step to spirituality, and who don't use religion as a way to bash other people.

The problen with the Church is that it is responsible for a lot of social ill - and that it's continuing to push through its criminal policies upon gullible people.

I know what they need! They need http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BEZaPN8gUY   *chuckles*

I dont like picking on one religion or another... I am a Unitarian Universalist.. We love every body.

Even the wankers.

kittinSol -> RE: Pope - "New 'sins'; more ways to go to hell!" (3/10/2008 11:57:05 AM)

Isn't it fine to whack off if you say "Sowwwy!" to God afterwards? As a matter of fact, from what I understood, the Church says it's okay to do bad, bad things, if one apologises for it later, right?

At school, I knew kids who'd make sins up so they'd have something to confess, so innocent were they that they had no idea what they were supposed to say... I find the confession system one of the scariest, ugliest aspects of catholicism.

But that's just me.

DominorSomnium -> RE: Pope - "New 'sins'; more ways to go to hell!" (3/10/2008 12:00:23 PM)

lol. apologizing for cumming...classic. my whole theory with little stuff is, God has bigger fish to fry than me.

kittinSol -> RE: Pope - "New 'sins'; more ways to go to hell!" (3/10/2008 12:03:53 PM)

"The crucifix... The Church has decided to retire this wholly depressing image... I give you... THE BODY OF CHRIST!". Hilarious clip - thank you.

I've always found the crucifix really sinister. Has anybody else stayed at an Irish B&B? Oh my god, they're full of them, one on every wall... brrrrr lol.

Curiously missing from the list - sex with alter boys.

"Girotti said the Catholic Church continued to be concerned by other sinful acts, including abortion and pedophilia."

I know it's not on Bloomberg's list, but I've always taken Bloomberg to be a bit of a comedy act; sort of like Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show", only leaning more towards the serious side.

It's kind of nice, in a way, that the Catholic Church is trying to get with the times.  Still, it's just a shame that they can't drop their silly beliefs.  I suppose one can't really expect such of the higher ups.  They're so invested into the psychosis that to lose it would to be shatter their entire world utterly.

The shame here is the effect.  The more realistic the Church is, the more people who'll be with it (compared to if they were less realistic).  Sort of like.. people smoke, even though it's bad for them.  But, if smoking caused a slow, painful death over the course of the next 24 hours after doing it for the first time, smoking wouldn't be so common (and not just because of the higher mortality rate).  In the same way, the Church being more realistic and reasonable (on issues such as polution) is going to get more good people under their spell.

Another shame in the effect is that their sins aren't perfect.  Some shouldn't be sins, some shouldn't be empathesised as much as others because it's disorting to one's view.  So they're giving their believers a renewed empathesis on beliefs which may be less realistic than the ones already held by such believers, plus they're hindering the path to believers finding better ones.

They're trying to be good people; I just wish they didn't live under delussion that seperates them from the reality that they wanted to be good in.  Kinda screws them over.

Come now "some kind of an ass"? At least go with the easy one - 'pompous' as a modifier!

An exhibition of Catholicism in the face of challenge. This is the dogma represented by your faith. Basic dogma of the Church, the self professing "one true Church" I may add, deems the infallibility of the Pope.

Are you the new breed of "Catholic Lite", picking and choosing which dogma works for you? If not - If Pope Ben says hell - it's hell. Christ himself said so:

Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Pax Domini sit semper vobis cum.
(Drawn from my days as an 'ugly' alter boy; but I'm not sure any longer about the Latin spelling. Although considering how many times I was beat on my knuckles learning it, I'd bet I'm better in Latin than I am in English)

PS - Don't forget to confess to the 'sin' of viewing CM next time you are in the 'box'.

-fast reply-

Hmmmmm, is it possible to be both a saditic and masocistic person?

While I do like to torture the pretty little wench; I am a Gorean, I'm a Catholic and I'm a white skinned American male. Holy fuck am I ever a glutton for punishment.

Oh and DominorSomnium, don't take these guys all that serious, I'm sure they would make fun of their own mothers. It's only blasphemy when you make fun of God, not the Catholic Church.

I have the most complex time trying to understand the word coming from St. Peters Vasilica, I think they are simply creating busy work or attempting to justif their jobs when they devise some new stuff like listed here. The Catholic Church I believe in is the people that I share faith with right here in my home town. That's a Home Stone(Gorean) thing though, so I doubt that most would understand.

Viva Jesus,

Bull

I don't think it is a solely Gorean thing honestly.

The "spiritual community" I found in my little church here in town is like a family.. and it is the community standards they (we I should say) have set and believe in.. that I follow. Not some idea the main church has. Mind you it generaly falls in line with it.. but we have our own "feel" and it is different from other churches of the exact same faith I have been to. I feel like I am "home" when I go. We are a community. It is why I officaly Joined the church.

A strong sense of community and belonging.. and protecting that is a human thing.

I understand this point of view:

...Perhaps the most significant difference between the man of Earth and the Gorean is that the Gorean has a Home Stone, and the man of Earth does not. It is difficult to make clear to a non-Gorean the significance of the Home Stone, for the non-Gorean has never had a Home Stone, and thus cannot understand its meaning, its reality. I think that I shall not try to make clear what is the significance to a Gorean of the Home Stone. It would be difficult to put into words; indeed, it is perhaps impossible to put into words; I shall not try. I think this is one of the saddest things about the men of Earth, that they have no Home Stone.
---Slave Girl of Gor, 9:213-214

But I simply do not agree with it. Some of us have that sense of home, community, pride, and protection. ( Ask the English about thier home towns. They usualy dont give a fig about thier country govt. very much.. but thier home town and what is in thier communities.. now that is a different matter. At least the ones I have as friends. ) Mess up an Englishmans garden and see what happens to ya.. *chuckles*

yeah...never had to learn latin sadly. and most people in my parish are so called "catholic lite" as are most American and European Catholics. and I havent been to confession in years. so thats not an issue for me. and latigresse, what is your brand of christianity?

anyhow, I am done arguing with you. Like I said in my post you "quoted" it is a lost cause. and me calling you an ass has nothing to do with dogma, it was a personal statement. Good day

Why not simply name them "catholites"? It's easier on the tongue.
