One of the truly masochistic delights of marriage: mental bondage.

I'm not particularly interested in getting married again, it took me forever to get it together and leave my ex. It helps that MasterK is also not interested in getting married.

Ditto.

But this goes to the mentality of the op and shows how wacked out people have become when dealing with this shit. Ya wanna get married? Go get fucking married! Hire a rentapriest. No big fucking deal.

You want to get married? Your problems will have little to do with BDSM and much more to do with only attaining the age of 18. Live...Experience some real shit...Go get some sort of job training or an education. Don't fuck without protection.

There should be a law against this type of crud.

Marriage is a civil institution, not a religious one. My brother and my sister in law got married in shorts at the court house... she was wearing a shirt that said "I Kiss Deliciously" on it... which was pretty racey considering it was 1980.

The fact of the matter is you can have a judge, a minister, or the captain of a ship marry you. You can go to Vegas and get married drive thru style if ya like. You cannot marry yourself, so being a minister doesn't help you say "I do"... and I do not think that those minister certs from the universal life church are legally binding... could be wrong about that though.

As far as we go, I wouldn't want a "lifestyle" wedding, nor a "religious" one. I suppose if Daddy and I ever tie the knot he would decide most of how it would go down.

my biggest mistake getting married was i was 19 years old and moved from my parent's house to my married house, i'd never been on my own except a few months away at a university...not much life experience there.  we had 2 kids quickly and i was a stay at home mom, i don't regret any of it really because i love being a mom.  what i can tell you though is, you think you know something at 18, 19 or even 25, but with age and experience comes wisdom and the ability to make educated decisions.  don't rush into things, you've got so much life ahead.   i was married for 14 years, about 10 of it being pretty miserable and a lot of it was my fault because i didn't go into the marriage for the right reasons, but at age 19 i thought i knew it all.  do you see where i'm going?

i'm not dissing marriage at all, i'm just dissing an uninformed, ignorant, "rush of youth" decision to get married in the first place.

In the UK there are Humanist Ministers, some kink-aware, or actually in the lifestyle, who will officiate at a sort-of-church-style wedding any way you want it, with a secular, or non-Christian Spiritual, service.

You can hold that anywhere licensed to do it. Most big hotels, conferenvce centres and the like are already licensed,

If the place you want to use isn't licensed; maybe it's a woodland glade or your house, you can apply for a license.

If you go through all the right legal hoops it is fine. You can do same-gender Civil Partnership services on a similar basis.

Poly weddings may be a bit more sticky; but our Inland Revenue have de-facto accepted polygamy amongst Muslims.

The law is just waiting for a non-Muslim polygamist to test the law in this area and you may even get away with that too.

I can even sell you a book by Zak J Keir, called Uncommon Commitments that goes into the details.

Why involve the God-botherers? There is no God. If there was he'd not talk the them!

What the OP needs is a Spankanist Minister.

*wonders if the marriage bashers are going to comment on him getting married at age 36*

Which I'll be when it happens.  Since age seems to be getting a fair bash with regards to judgment.

I always thought that if I were going to have a kinky wedding, I'd hightail it to Vegas and get married by an Elvis impersonator.  No disrespect is intended by this scenario, either.  I fucking love Elvis and if I had the money, I would happily spend the rest of my life in Vegas.

Unfortunately, both my boy and I have super-traditional, super-strict Catholic families... so even if we could pull off a kinky wedding, our families would probably hang us by our thumbs, and we might need their money someday.  Feh.

You wouldn't want to live there right now - the economy in Vegas is in the toilet. (I know this from my niece who just lost her job and had to move away.)

I've had a wedding planned for 45 years. The groom and other details change from time to time, but it always is a church wedding (even if it's outdoors). I have too many friends who would not understand or would be shocked by kink. If my Dom/husband - whoever he turns out to be - and I want a kinky ceremony with BDSM friends, that would be a separate private party.

In U K when we got married, it was a registry office job, both pagan belief and not wanting fuss, a church was seriously out of the question, We both got married in unusual attire, but it suited us, not kink, but more sort of a past century, Oh, wifey was married in forest green and myself in blood red and black.

We got married at a speedway, in race suits, by a minister of the Uniting Church.  Neither of us is religious, so the references to God were kept to a minimum.  I wore my collar under the suit

Good for you, except our marriage there was no reference to what we did not believe in

If I chose "marriage" for myself, I'd want to make sure it was legal more than anything.  If I did have someone for reasons other than that officiate the marriage, it would be someone we all cherished, admired and wanted to enjoy as the vessel through which our marriage union was created.
