MistressVnus -> No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 4:27:39 AM)

I don't like my slave's wearing anything black.  The only exception to this is a maids outfit when I'm in the mood.
I prefer white for most things.  White, to me, is a constant reminder of their submission and status.  However, I realize white is not always the most practical color for many activities.  Outside casual clothing really isn't as much of an issue for me.  If they have blue jeans and a black pullover over t-shirt I might let it slide.  However, I prefer not.  This goes for male/female slaves, alike.  Not gender decisive for me.

On the other hand, any hose/garter, panties, corsets, loungerie are NEVER to be black in color.
The only black a slave should have on in my presence are the restraints and other items (hoods, waist belts..ie) I put on them.

To me, black is a DOMINANT and ominious color (or lack of color).

Maybe I'm strange like that.  Do any of you other Mistresses/Masters/Dominants feel the same?  Or, is this just a pet peeve unique to me.  Do you have color or clothing preferences for your subs/slaves?  Subs/slaves, does your Dominant have a color preference, or clothing type prefernce for you?

SweetDommes -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 5:08:39 AM)

I prefer what looks good on them - some people don't look good in black, some people don't look good in white, some people don't look good in red, etc.  So if, like me, they look horrible and sickly in white, they aren't allowed to wear white - same with any other color.

To me, no color is "dominant" or "submissive" - they are just colors.

There have been many cases in days past that subjects could not wear colors, or ermine or other furs or their hair in certain fashion or certain shoes or say certain things.......all reserved for royalty.  So not uncommon throughout history at all, consider that you are upholding traditions that are handed down from your cousins the Emperors and Emperesses of Japan, the Czar of Russia, the Kings and Queens of Scandinavia, the Kings and Queens of Britain, and so on.......

Sir likes extremes, he likes very black and gothy or very pink and cute, we dress to this he generally doesnt ask us to its just that we know what he likes and try to get both bases covered :D

Madame4a -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 5:48:44 AM)

I think it depends where we are, what kind of thing we're doing etc...

I don't have a lot of color preferences, though I do have some very specific requirements for what a boi/boy in service to me should wear... white or black tshirt (plain or a leather event one), black belt, jeans and black boots...

that's my norm.. a leather vest if they've earned or have one...

thetammyjo -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 5:54:19 AM)

I actually like black as a color, or lack of color as the case may be, for almost everything.

I have more a gut level reaction to type of clothing. I don't find anything tight, high heeled, or restrictive in any way to be dominant at all -- I think all that screams submissive object to me thus I'll never look like the stereotypical femdom I guess.

So I find tight clothing to be more a submissive or slave signal to me.

On the other hand, to show how crazy I am, I find simple clothing to also be a signal of submissiveness to me. So no shoes, no socks, simple pull on pants, simple button-down or pull on shirt, no patterns, just basic colors and natural fabrics.

Well i havent a Master so im not ordered to ear anything, but i know what you mean about black, generally it is dark and mysterious, used for depicting evil often (not saying Dom/mes are evil lol) but tends to be the opposite of innocence in art and films and the likes. also with black/white it shows the difference extremely between colours and this can be reflected to people too, black knight/white knight for example. but also they may be opposites but they complement each other perfectly, just like Dom/mes and subs.

After reading this, I had to sit back in my chair, put my feet up, lean back and say to myself.......

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh, yessssssss!  It is GOOD to be Queen!!"

No black??? Ack! Safeword! Safeword!!  )=

Left to my own devices, i'd probably only wear black clothes. At one point in college i looked at my wardrobe and realized i only owned something like 25 T-shirts, and all but two of them were black. My wife likes to see me in reds and greens, so i do try to find and wear those when possible, but she hasn't gone so far as to put a moratorium on black (and the rest of my neutral/boring) clothes.

i saw some pictures, years back, from a site putting itself forward as some kind of slave training academy, and they had a similar uniform... The slaves all wore the same off-white, unadorned, fairly shapeless cloth jumpsuit, same hairstyle, no jewelry, no footwear... they were often in bag-style hoods that matched the jumpsuits... It was very striking. If you look at clothing as a symbol of power, or even a source of sexual power a la fetishwear, it really confronts that.

Dnomyar -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 6:15:48 AM)

I always wore stripped shirts. Still do as my IM profile pic will attest to. Why I don't know.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 6:20:28 AM)

in my opinion - no black clothing on your slave is your own personal pet peeve and preference.

Daddy has no set rules about what color i should wear in clothes - i love wearing black especially when covering metal/goth bands (their fans do get quite rowdy and it's not pretty in pink coming home with blood/beer stains on my sweaters).  so when i'm working the rock scene - black t-shirts with the station logo and black jeans. when i'm not on the clock, any color i want to wear.

Lashra -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 6:27:31 AM)

As long as he is dressed to fit the occasion I don't care what color he wears, except yellow is off limits. I dislike the color yellow so it is a no no.

I only wear black.  Sometimes a splash of red or purple but that is rare.
Black is cool, slimming and cleans up excellently.  It is also non descriptive.
Darcy wears alot of black too.  But at certain dominant moments, he wears nothing....[;)]

SunNMoon -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 7:35:15 AM)

To me it’s just clothes and colors. They don’t really make someone submissive or dominant. Through the can be used that way, but that falls under a cultural understanding. IE the color yellow in China only being for the emperor. Then one can look at white which in China is the color of mourning, and in the US is seen as a happy wedding color.

Now on the subject of black to me it’s just a color, not conation of submission at all. If my partner looks good in black then I’d like him to wear it. I personally find it a very sexy color.

Shawn1066 -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 7:45:07 AM)

Yeah, it's just your pet peeve.  Personally, I have never once looked at black as a dominant color.  I really don't think there's such a thing -as- a dominant color.  Though...if I had to choose...I'd think red or indigo would be ten times more dominant than black.

My Owner hates, hates, hates the color pink, so that's our only color eccentricity.

I have no set rules for how I dress, but it's always within my Owner's rights to decide such things if she so pleased.  I just don't think she finds it very important as long as I don't dress like a total doofus. :-p

I am also a Henry Ford man, 'You can any colour you want as long as it is black', a saying about the Ford model T I believe.

But I also wear steel and silver to compliment the black.

Colours I find interesting, and I  do like strong contrasts.

Something about black though, when someone does wear it, the lack of 'colour' makes me concentrate on a persons face, not the colours of their clothing or style of dress. Colours I feel can be distracting from what a person is talking to.

favesclava -> RE: No Black for Slave!! (3/12/2008 8:05:18 AM)

there's no restrictions on colors i may wear , although Master prefers white because is a good contrast with my naturally tanned skin.i prefer to wear black goth -metal style clothes as i have all my teen and adult life. He only wears black to funerals.

Exactly.  That's sort of my premise for the preferences.  That these internalized signals of color become a visual association, of sorts, that helps to maintain, everyone's headspace.  Not just one party's headspace but, both.  Another subliminal form of conditioning, so to speak.  I just like to do it with color, among other things, of course.

Of course, sometimes having a slave dress as a total dufus can be quite entertaining, in and of itself.
And then, the walking 3 steps behind me, is a must.   *grin*
