HEY! I was joking. I wouldn't eat these things, unless it was so bad that I had no choice. Though I love foie gras.

well the price of dairy should be down because there are more dairy cows, and better producing ones in the market.. but the OPEC bastards keep jacking up the prices.. and well... they do have to ship the milk off to the plants, then to processing to cheese.. then to ( well you get the idea...)

Gwyn,
who is having chicken fajitas tonight to go with the picodegilo she made today. *Mmmmmm*

~ I have a mild food alergy to beef anyways.

Take this in the spirit in which it is given.

Ain't no such thing as "chicken fajitas".

Pico de Gallo is a Botana, or also a sort of salad, consisting of Jicama, orange (sometimes pineapple) sections, lime juice, salt, and chile piquin molida.

Believe me, this is something I know about.

A great way to still eat steak, and save a few bucks, is to buy the rib roasts on sale, and have the butcher carve it into steaks with the ribs on the side.  Easter is right around the corner and they'll be on sale.

Oh no.. I *love* dairy.. every thing is better with Sourcream, butter or cheese or a combo there of... Poor Winfield has to take 2 of his "milk pills" when I cook for him. LOL He *knows* it is going to have dairy. At least the dessert is bound to. I miss our Chef "Throw Downs"

Hmm.. I do have the makings for a strawberry milkshake.. Hmmm....

Soon people will be eating beans and rice, that is much cheaper than chicken.

Also, do not eat the damn tweety bird!

*chuckles* technicaly if you are traditional.. no.. but many use chicken instead.

http://search.foodnetwork.com/food/recipe/chicken+fajitas/search.do?searchString=chicken+fajitas&site=food&gosearch=&searchType=Recipe

It is supposed to be with things like Carne asada http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carne_asada

( yummy stuff) esp from the street corner taco shops.

My Pico is more of a Cuban style that more closely resembles chismol sauce.

Tonight it has Tomatoes, green chillies, lime juice, tomilitos, onions, and garlic. ( I was out of Cilantro)

I change out my pico every once in a while. I love jimca. Depends on my mood.

My Girl is Cuban.. I hooked her by my cuban cooking even though I am a Gringa.

Aint nothing wrong with beans and rice, aduki beans are great, and a good substitute for minced beef in chilli.

I always ate more chicken than steak anyhow, so this turn in the economy will work just fine for me

i guess i'm blocked , but just in case... supply and demand. More people buying chicken, fewer buy-one-get-one sales. It's truly the chicken-eaters who will suffer (oh, and the chickens ).

Ahh, Ramen old friend...

We'll try and keep this light-hearted, no?

Fajita means "skirt", referring to the cut of beef.
Here's an interesting link:
http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/story?oid=oid%3A261130
I toured the King Ranch doen in S. Texas many years ago, and they talked about grilling skirt and flank steaks over the fire way back around the 1900s.

What is known along the Rio Grande and in the US as Pico de Gallo is called Salsa Cruda or Salsa Mexicana Cruda down in Mexico.

I know a LOT about Cocina Mexicana.

I think health concerns are just as much the cause of a slowing of beef sales as chicken being cheaper

Would these be the same 'retail analysts' who every year proclaim the holiday shopping sales to be the worst ever...and then in February sneak a small blurb into the back page of the paper that sales actually exceeded expectations once all the numbers were in?
