Exactement.

Some white people are up in arms over Obama's candidacy because they feel they're loosing a privilege that was solely theirs: the highest office in the land. They're just shitting themselves. I think it's a great thing, and that it will do a hell of a lot of good to America. The equivalent of a sudden, freezing shower, if you like.

Not yet but Obama is pushing for it.

Hillary is obviously against it but in time she will submit to the inevitable in order to have any power.

Probably just my perception, but it does not seem to cause as much of a stink. Wasn't it Jesse Jackson that said Obama was not black enough? Was Jesse Jackson called a racist by a lot of people because of that? I am looking and only finding right wing commentators calling him a racist for saying that.

What are these standards for racism you are talking about? I've never heard of racist standards. I didn't realise racism could be callibrated.

I have never heard the black community make such vociferous cries of "foul" because there were only white candidates to the presidency, complaining all over the predominantly white-owned media.

And if some expressed concern, it was only justified, as so far, not a single black person has ever been president of the United States. Not a single woman either - but let's not mix things up, aye

The standard would be if a racist comment was made by someone non-white, would they be as ripped up by the public, as if it were a white. You see that is equitable treatment, something I mentioned a ways back. What you propose is not equitabke treatment, but instead you propose exceptions be made because of someone ethnicity. If it were white's making exceptions for white's it is racist, but is it seen by most to be equally bad if a it is non-white? I believe your answer is what I perceive, which is exceptions are made depending on the ethnicity of the person saying it.

As MrG pointed out it was fashionable to integrate secondary education. Now that hasn't worked suggestions are being made that education be segregated again.

Mixed ability groups which disadvantaged everybody.
Streaming accord to ability. Not fair for those put in the lower streams.
There appears to be no end to this ongoing farce.

I'd be curious to know where you looked, frankly. Perhaps if you used his actual (very racist) statement that Obama is "acting like he's white", you might find more commentators across the political spectrum who called Jesse Jackson's statement racist?

And honestly, Jesse Jackson is a clown who's been in involved in tawdry scandals for years. He has had no recognizable political clout for a very long time so he really should not be (in my opinion) compared to someone like Geraldine Ferraro in terms of political standing. I would question whether Jesse Jackson would be able to convince anyone in the decision to select dogcatcher. That's just me maybe!
