BSB is one of the hottest women I have ever been with, when I saw her strutting through the airport, my jaw dropped my heart raced, and well, the rest is history.

However, she didn't become beautiful to me until I came to know the person inside her and fell in love with her.

To me, that totally sums it up for personal relationships.

Someone can be beautiful but not be classically attractive, in my opinion, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW09gNfLyPc this woman when she smiles I think is one of the most beautiful I have seen, she isnt classically attractive shes a bit bigger and all that, but when she sings songs like this you can tell shes in love, she sings to her husband (the guy on the guitar) and that makes her beautiful to me.

That's Patti of Tuck & Patti (Tuck Andress & Patti Cathcart).  I love them and see them live whenever I can.  She radiates beauty - just in her presence and her essence.  And to me that's what beauty is - it emerges from within and radiates what's in the spirit.  It affects those around who are open to it.  It makes you smile from within.

Attractiveness is meaningless without beauty.  Attractiveness is what's outside; beauty is what's inside.  Beauty - be it found in art, nature, people, or music, is what touches your soul and leaves an imprint.

i'm actually the opposite... i've never had any beauty in myself, so what i appreciate is beauty in creations... Complex machines like antique firearms and coach-built automobiles, where every piece not only performs a function, is machined to a fine tolerance, but is also crafted with an eye towards elegance and aesthetic appeal. Seeing them visibly aged- neglected, rotted- actually gives me a feeling akin to physical illness, that something so beautiful can be just cast aside, and fall apart just like the imperfect, organic creatures that litter the earth. And actually, i even prefer this in people- not so much the expressionless, generic plastic-surgery addicts in the media, but people with heavy body modification, altered figures, seamless tattoos, rows of piercings, supernatural coloration, even down to preferring skintight suits to bare flesh... All about taking the ordinary and using the tools at hand to make it beautiful, flawless, exotic.

The last woman I was with, well, her breasts aren't as pert as they obviously were in her youth, and they aren't large. Her hands show wrinkles and the slight deformation that arthritis often brings. She has a slight lisp. She has a bit of a saggy belly and some stretch marks from pregnancy, and her buns aren't totally tight. She's got some gray in her hair and crow's feet around her eyes, and one of her eyes is just a teeny bit off-center (not as bad as my left eye, though, nowhere near). She's not what Hollywood or Madison Avenue would consider "beautiful".

I love her, but I'm not "in love" with her anymore. We e-mail each other every day, and share things about ourselves, some of which we have never told another.

When we were together, she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

I love the way you put this, ownedgirlie.

Thanks for the Tuck & Patti links - I've never heard them before.  [:)]

I find it to be a question of relative ugliness. i.e. everyone is ugly it’s just a case of selecting those with least ugliness.[8|]

Thanks to you both for the goosebumps and Best Wishes.

Lashra -> RE: Beauty..........what does it mean to you? (3/14/2008 6:19:34 AM)

I am 45 years old now and I have come to the conclusion that beauty is a perception. I've seen some really drop dead gorgeous women (and men) who were the most egotistical, mean people I have ever seen. To me that killed their good looks. Yet I have seen some "unattractive" folk who are kind and give back to the community, to me they were the most beautiful people I've ever seen.

This may sound cheesy BUT the outter beauty changes over time for everyone, but what is inside is the important thing. I've seen some really beautiful 50+ year old people who have a few wrinkles and silver hair, but who spend their time helping abused women, disabled children and visiting the elderly in nursing homes. To me thats true beauty.

camille65 -> RE: Beauty..........what does it mean to you? (3/14/2008 6:31:04 AM)

I think attitude goes a long way, when someone is strong & confident with themselves they don't worry so much about beauty. They let themselves be natural within their bodies and to me that is a form of human beauty. When I was in 7th grade a huge thing came out about inner beauty and outer beauty. I cried for days when I was told that at least I had some inner beauty. If I could afford plastic surgery... I would do it. There are mega parts of my body that make me cringe, I don't look at myself nude in a mirror. The first thing my owner does when we meet is to make me strip so that I can get past that block. (it doesn't always work) He thinks I'm beautiful and that should be all that matters but it isn't, I want to think that too.

sabirah -> RE: Beauty..........what does it mean to you? (3/14/2008 6:33:16 AM)

I equate beauty with unconditional love.
The person who gives a helping hand, just because they know its the right thing to do, not expected anything back. The person who holds compassion in their heart, in my opinion exudes beauty. I tend to look into the soul of a person to see their beauty, exterior beauty fades.

LaTigresse -> RE: Beauty..........what does it mean to you? (3/14/2008 7:46:29 AM)

Images just keep coming to mind when I think of this thread.

Usually famous people simply because we all know who they are. I remember the actress Jessica Tandy, what a beautiful woman she was throughout her life. Granted, as an actress I am sure she had a few tweaks here and there but nothing to detract from her natural beauty. Then you have someone like Priscilla Presley, used to be so very lovely and now, her photos make me cringe. When I see her I think of Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

Which also brings to mind how sexy I think Jack is, and much better looking now than in his youth. On the flipside of that you have the horror of....oh say Burt Reynolds now.

Off the subject of beautiful versus not in people. I was thinking this morning about inanimate objects. My adult son and I purchased autos at approximately the same time. I got a Mazda Speed3 ( I personally think it is a veddy sexy zoomy little buggy) and he got a 1953 Chevy BelAir just like in the link below. All original and just cool as hell.
http://www.1953chevrolet.com/

I drive my new wheels when weather permits, and he drives his every day also. People have continually asked him when he is going to restore it. (he and his uncle do high end restoration and customized auto body work for people all over the world) He always replies the same. "I'm not going to. I am going to keep her just like she is." No one seems to get that he finds the signs of her age beautiful. Granted, there is almost zero rust, and it is in amazing condition, but the paint is faded and dulled and there is dots of surface rust here and there.

When I look at that old car of his I see beauty far beyond my zippy little machine. There is a character and history there that my car cannot even begin to reflect. I see a survivor and history. I wonder at the people that have ridden in that car, what their life stories were. It captivates me in a way my sleek sporty little black machine never will.

GreedyTop -> RE: Beauty..........what does it mean to you? (3/14/2008 7:58:20 AM)

I'm jealous of your son, LaT... I've always wanted one of those cars LOL

And I agree..Jessica Tandy was one of the most beautiful women ever... I hope to god that I can age with the class and dignity that she did!

Sean Connery.., I find him infinitely more attractive now than I ever did when he was doing the Bond movies (of course, seeing him in a kilt didn't hurt..LOL)

Yes, they live in the SF Bay Area.  Patti grew up in San Mateo.  They play in Santa Cruz and Oakland (Yoshi's) every year and I try to see them when I can - I've seen them about 4 or 5 times.  Not only is she remarkably beautiful, but the way Tuck looks at her while he plays is really something.  His playing is rather phenomenal, but he plays as if he is presenting her to everyone else.  And she just sparkles to him.  It's like watching a love affair before your very eyes.

That's what beauty is to me...it touches you inside and lasts.

It ain't shorts and it ain't trousers, call it what you will but I am saying, glorified plaid, wool, SKIRT![:D]

GreedyTop -> RE: Beauty..........what does it mean to you? (3/14/2008 8:07:17 AM)

hmmph.

If the wearer was attending Catholic school, it's a skirt. Or dressing like a schoolgirl..

if it's a guy, not attending school, it's a kilt... [8D]
