I live in Baltimore City. I've had my share of challenging race relations here. But, there's no way its ever going to be comparable to real, racial injustice.
The undercurrent of this thread, which is entirely ludicrous, BTW, is that if Barak Obama became US President, this would somehow set back race relations in the USA. That's just a preposterous notion.

Since the begining of man each civilization or segment of it has been someones bitch at one time or another. Being assholes about it when you are still scraping up and finishing off on getting equality and biting back isnt gonna help accomplish shit.
The British over took India... Africa... America... Hell every where... The Portugese tried to make Asia thier Bitches.. and Asia kicked thier asses. It has been the way of the world. The Blacks and Native Americans do not have the sole corner market on it.
Who accomplished *seriously* accomplished more.... Malcom X or Dr. Martin Luther King? Hate and anger only gets you so far. And it begets more hate and anger.. there is a bigger back lash. Dr. King knew that... and worked hard to get rights not by brute force and hatred, and anger. You know he was fed up, tired and angry... but he never once lashed out. That is what made him so powerful and such a great man.

One of our Ladies we look up to from my church ( not my exact church but my faith ) was one of the founders of the NAACP. http://www.naacp.org/about/history/mwo/ She had that sort of skill and in a time when it certainly was frowned apon to even think of it. Many of our members were killed by white supremists while working for the NAACP, in marches, or beside Dr. King.
And no your whole race does not have to be oppressed for it to count. Some one being an asshole to you simply because of your race, sex, creed, age, or sexual orientation or identity is still an asshole. ~ And no.. I dont give a fig about what thiers is.. it doesnt matter if it is a hispainic calling a black guy something.. or a black guy calling a gay guy something.. it is still fucking wrong. ( that whole Greys Antaomy thing pissed me the fuck off. Just because you are a black guy does not give you a free pass to call some one a name. Then.. they were being racisit because they called you on it? Oh fuck off and die.) ~ Gods forbid if I ever see that jackass on the street.. my size 11 is going sideways up his ass.
