GreedyTop -> Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 1:57:31 AM)

(but *I* will listen)

I do the breast self-exams.  It always just feels slightly lumpy to me (I'm figuring muscles/fatty tisssue etc).

Occasionally, I get tenderness on one side of a breast or the other.  NOTICE that it's not specific to either breast..sometimes, the outside of one breast will be ouchy, sometimes the other breast will get it.,  sometimes both.  Doesnt seem to be associated with my period.

Any insight? (yes, I know.. see a Dr.. but I'm flatass broke.. lol)

Any

Greedy, I'm not a doctor, nor an RGN, but will say that a woman's hormones fluctuate, so while you can't make a connection between the tenderness and your period, I will say that your hormones can fluctuate up to a couple of weeks prior to a period (and after) so it sounds typically hormonal to me... and besides, you're young and nubile, I could always come and examine you (forget my saying I was not a doctor or RGN, I've got the uniform and will warm my hands...).

On a serious note, you're broke, that should not prevent you from seeking medical advice and help if you need it. Aren't there provisions in the US for citizens that don't have medical insurance, Greedy? It's inconceivable to me that people can be refused medical attention on the grounds they can't afford it.

I always feel lumpy as well...but my ob/gyn says they feel normal to her LOL so I guess I don't know what I'm looking for. hehe and I get breast tenderness as well...but I always figured it was from my birth control. Sometimes I can't even lay on my stomach/chest b/c it hurts so bad LOL

GreedyTop -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:22:44 AM)

woohoo! Miss M!! anytime you wanna come grope.. oops, EXAMINE me... feel free ;) I'll even prvide lodging and transpo ;)

Unlike the UK, there is no national healthcare.  If I go to a private Doc.. feh, why even speculate? I cant afford it.  can't go to an emergency room because it ISNT an emergency.  And even if I did.. I'd get 'nastygrams' from the hospital (as happened after my car accident last year). AND it affects my credit rating.

Theres Medicaid for poor people...depending on how low your income is...and a lot of places have other programs for low income people...like here we have GHI...

MissMagnolia -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:26:04 AM)

I have what is termed, by my doctor, as "ropey" breasts. This means that you have a lot of cysts, which are completely harmless. The problem is that it is hard for us with ropey breasts (and armpits) to know what is normal for us and what isn't, so we might miss a new "lump".

It's almost certainly this or a hormone fluctuation. Hormones are vile, shitty things that attack us even when we don't know they're doing it[:@]. I have a mammogram every year, just to be on the safe side.

MissMorrigan -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:30:46 AM)

Yep, that's understandable. I have large breasts, they're not small and pert, they're large and pliable (not sure quite how to describe them lol), so I can feel all the bits inside them which can feel most odd, but have been reassured by the doctor (on several occasions [:D] - he did have nice hands!) that I would soon know if there was anything abnormal b/c that tenderness changes to a discomfort that doesn't alter with hormonal fluctuation and any lumpiness that isn't natural will soon make itself know during examination.

I really am shocked that people can be neglected like this, Greedy. It's incredibly sad. How much would it cost to see a doctor without healthcare insurance?

On an even more serious note, I have four weeks holiday due... [:D]

thx to you, BOTH Miss M's!! *smooch*

Mammograms are out of my budget too... although to be honest.,.the idea of someone trying to squeeze MY tits into a machine just SO does not appeal..LOL

GreedyTop -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:38:20 AM)

no idea, Miss M.. aint calling around to ask (it would be too depressing..LOL)

4 weeks?? well, hell, woman! I have a spare room, and kitties!  And there are places to go play! [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

(well, aside from my house ;) )

dollparts85 -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:39:50 AM)

you probably don't even need a mammogram...just have a doctor examine you and see if there is a problem.

MissMorrigan -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:41:22 AM)

You're a very good smoocher (insert lustful smiley)

I've had a mammogram, it's not pleasant - another of those necessary evils though lol

Thanks to the other Miss M, I cannot help but think my new nick will be 'Ropey Tits'!

Don't you have any friends in Canada you can go visit and while there, nip to a doctor and get examined for nothing, Greedy?

dollparts85 -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:43:16 AM)

the trip from FL to Canada would cost more than the doctor LOL

MissMagnolia -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:43:57 AM)

ROFLMAO!!!

You will NEVER be "ropey tits" to any of us Miss M!!

GreedyTop -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:49:16 AM)

Well, I think Faery might host me.. but getting the time off from work is problematic...*sigh*  Another problem with things here... no built in holiday/sick time...

MissMorrigan -> RE: Since there are other posters who come here with medical issues.. (3/15/2008 2:51:04 AM)

Oh man, that sucks major arse! I vote that Greedy moves, becomes a UK citizen - I have a spare bed - okay, remove the spare bed... I have a warm bed (rack), free healthcare and regular gynae exams to ensure continued well-being. We'll have a whipround to raise Greedy's airfare, I'd throw in the first $50 [:D]
