I think it's used as a concise description of how they see their interaction with the 'nilla world, rather than getting all wordy with the "strong, confident, wordly, leader...blah, blah blah". I can't see as I'd have any problem with it - I'd rather an "alpha" type than a wimpering sycophant who's getting no-where with their life...

Well said! Even though I would rather be the one to determine his "alpha" status rather than him advertising it....if that makes any sense. His idea of alpha might be much different from mine.

I understand your point.

But I also try to understand the perspective of a male submissive who would do that. Male submission is like...a foreign concept to me. The more I am in the scene, the more exposed I am to it. It seems like it would be difficult to hold on to your identity as a guy and submit, because you are programmed from day one that you are the gender who controls and you are force feed false ideas of what a man would be. Maybe it's just his way of showing how important it is to him to feel manly and submit.

    LOL, "alpha" is one of those words that has different meanings to different people. While to some it might mean, "None of you puny mortals can defeat me," to others it's simply, "i have many responcibilities and people depending on me. A perfectly submissive but single parent would still be alpha, in a generic sence, over their UMs. Being over loaded with duty is a common draw to submission, and having but one job, make Master/Mistress happy. Most of my female friends are so on top of every aspect of their lives, assertive, in your face,,, then confess a disire to "simply surrender".
   Were i to read this in a profile, that is likely how my brain would interate the word. Perhaps it is over used and i haven't noticed.
