I'm not doing atkins...it's a stupid fad diet.

Well, if you're afraid of ketosis, you sure as fuck better eat a lot more than what you say you are.

Boy46,

The title of this forum is Off Topic DISCUSSION.  We are discussing nutrition. DISCUSSING. We are not laying down the law to anyone...pounding our fists on our respective computer desks and saying "This is how you will eat!!!"

And i can't help but wonder about your comment "there are people here with a wide knowledge about it but i would search in other sites". Perhaps YOU, young man, should take your own advice and search elsewhere...can't have anyone that is not a professional giving you bad advice...now can you?

Have a sunshiney day.

Yes, it is a discussion.  That was *his* considered advice, which, even if you, personally, don't agree, seems well-reasoned and based upon sincere concern.

Even a "young" man might be allowed his opinion, here, don't you agree?  If you don't, I promise the forum shall grind to a halt.

excuse me
i took offense in boy46 stating that this was not the place to obtain nutrition advice. I cannot agree that this forum is a bad place for such a discussion. IF he had bothered to read the entire thread he would have seen that the OP HAS gone elsewhere for more information, as per his suggestion.

chocolate has carbs?  fuck me!

not if you eat it standing up, Christine. And there are no calories/carbs in cookie crumbs....thats why i always hit a bag of Oreo's with a hammer.

i must run to home depot and get myself the biggest hammer i can find....

a high heel will work in a pinch (like in the supermarket parking lot)

dollparts...you call Atkins a stupid fad diet yet you state that you ate only 12 carbs (12 items containing less than 1 carb each) in one day.  I honestly have to tell you that Atkins is a huge step up the ladder from what you are doing.

I cannot tell if you actually mean, "excuse me," or if you are just being sarcastic and patronizing, again.

To suggest that someone seek professional advice about their health is hardly an assailable comment.  For you to be personally offended by it, I would think you would have to be a medical or nutritional expert, whose expertise was being put in question.  However, as is very clear from the discussion, here, even medical experts are accustomed to their opinions being debated, amongst themselves.

I don't personally think it's a bad idea to discuss this or other health topics with others, here, as long as the precaution Boy46 suggests is already kept in mind.  What I object to is the chilling effect that posts such as yours have on people trying to engage in the discussion.

Very true. Which is why I do not normally consume that little. My nutritionist says I should have 180 carbs per day. It was a mistake yesterday...I just wanted a way to stop the bad carb cravings...I'm fine if it was fruit or something...but I wanted pizza LOL not exactly healthy.

Here in a nut shell is my response. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bMq3ds-yFU

The human body is suposed to have a balanced diet.

Not too much of one or the other thing.

Whole grains not that "we bleached all the nutritional vaule out of the shit.. and it is tasteless" white bread and pasta crap.

Each time they come up with some crazy as shit of " Oh My God Dont Eat That!" 5 years down the road they publish another article of " Oh.. our bad.. you need a balanced diet" the next day they are back to the Oh My God Dont Eat That! on something else.

We all know if it is swimming in gravy it tastes good but isnt good for us. If it is deep fried it tastes good but isnt good for us. That Red meat has more fat.. and in general is worse for us then white.. ( but damn tasty ) and that Baked, Broiled and Boiled are healthier options when it comes to cooking.

Fresh foods ( Fruit and Veg) not canned have thier vitamins in tact, and no added sodium. Not cooking the shit out of them will help retain that. Whole Grain and Brown rice are much better for you then white. Naturaly occuring substances when it comes to food are healther then shoving chemicals into your body. ( less processed food. Real butter in moderation, real sugar in moderation or honey as a sweetener. )

In our quick fix soceity instead of looking to nature for our food we turned to a chemist and look at what it got us. processed food, childhood obesity, a rise in over all obesity, and health problems, and the overall lack in food knowledge of how to eat healthy. If it isnt shrink wraped, boxed or bagged most havent the foggiest how to shove it into thier big gaping pie holes.

Then we wonder why our insurance rates go up.. and why food is so expensive.

Insurance goes up because we are killing ourselves slowly with the bad food choices and McDeaths we are creating... and food bills have gone up not only because of gas prices but because of all of the unnessasary packaging. What happened to people being concerned about landfils and sliming back packaging in the 80's ? They bloody wrap and box everything. Huge boxes for itty bitty items.

Just my 2 ducats...

Gwyn

I just gotta say that I stood here in my kitchen, catching up on this thread, while eating those wonderful individually wrapped Reeses peanut butter cups and laughing.

And yeahhhh!!! Gwyn!! All things in moderation.

If we are so worried about the size of our asses, I might suggest not only eating healthier but getting off those asses and WALK!! ALOT!!!

excuse me...
I totally agree with you it is not a bad idea to discuss health related topics with others, and you unknowingly have proven my point. He stated that this discussion should not be taking place. THAT is what i had an issue with. All else he said was interesting.

And if you took what i said as sarcastic and/or patronizing, that is on you and i offer no apologies.

well said, Gwyn. Do you remember, after telling us for years that butter will kill us, it was announced that oleo contained trans-fat and we should not go near it?

Boy...can they ruin a baked potato.

Think LaT will share her PB cups?
