CalifChick -> Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 9:53:52 AM)

I find it disturbing when someone posts on here about their Dom/sub/pet/whoever, when that other person also posts here, and the post doesn't start out with, "XXXXX knows I'm posting this here for comments."

Am I oversensitive on this?

What disturbs me the most is when people go on  at length about their partners and domestic intimacy... but I get squicked easily.

You're not oversensitive, but I wouldn't worry about it too much... that's what I try to do with my own squickness issues.

Gwynvyd -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 9:58:52 AM)

I think it is up to the couple.. *shrugs* it depends on the dynamics of that couple.

Gwyn,
Who tries to show her girl the threads.. and her girl couldnt give a fig less. *shrugs*
But my boy does post about me.. and I find them occasionaly and weigh in on what he said.. or he does the same. *smiles* it is all good.

GreedyTop -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:02:10 AM)

The only time it bothers me is when there are issues that are clearly things that the couple should be discussing..and haven't, based on the posts.

BTW, mail, Gwyn..

See, it's a matter of balance... occasional posting about intimate stuff is one thing; but constant reminders of such things makes me squeamish [:D] . I'm a wuss.

LadyPact -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:06:42 AM)

I might be taking the topic a bit too seriously, but if people don't post about their lives and experiences (which would include their partners), what would you have them post on?  Looking at it in another way, would you only have them ever post the good things about their involvements, sugar-coat everything, only ever posting the positives?  Neither is very realistic, in My view.  Then again, I'm probably one of the offenders.

LaTigresse -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:07:32 AM)

I only get bugged by the prolific posters that cannot seem to write a post without referencing their SO. It's creepy.

Ahhhh, now those entertain me!

Hmm I mentioned mine a fair bit, but I like using personal examples to back up a point, they know that I post here and i sometimes link them to differant things normally if they make a point more eloquantly than I have been making. Ha its kinda irrelevent now tho.

GreedyTop -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:15:39 AM)

yeah, LaT..but we've already established that you're a twisted bitch :) (said with utmost admiration!)

Cali, we all have very different comfort levels.
Some will come here and post the story of their life, in great detail, others will not.
Personally, I try not to share that many details of my personal life.

When I collar my submissive, I will probably make the announcement out of joy.
But details? and the specifics of who he is? will probably not be shared on the message boards.

To me, there is no right or wrong, here.
It is what you are comfortable with sharing, and the ramifications of your personal life being on public display, good or bad.
We are all adults here, we all want to play.
I have been here at CollarMe almost 4 years.
I have seen many here "disappear" or change their name because of bad or failed very public relationships.
Everyone has to put on their big girl/boy britches no matter where you go in life.

kittinSol -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:19:17 AM)

I feel the same way as Tigresse: the constant reminders by posters of "the Other" are a little bit squickworthy, whilst those that fight on threads by proxy are highly entertaining.

Then there are those who occasionally mention their private lives on the boards, and that seems innocuous to me. Maybe I'm just too private?

Nahhhhh LP, your name didn't hit my radar when I was thinking about this. I guess there's certain things that strike me as disloyal, and I think, "wow, I wonder if their partner knows they're putting this out there, or are they going to find out when they log in?"

I just hate couples full stop lets face it they are annoying. Always funny though picturing the scene of a couple communicating in the same house through the medium of laptop.

LadyPact -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:27:49 AM)

I'm glad, cali, though I probably have a post or two out there that fit the ticket.

You're a cynical little thing, aren't you [:D] ?!

Raechard -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 10:33:29 AM)

Aye it's not easy but I try my best.[:D]

If you try to analyze why it disturbs you, you may gain some personal insight on the issue. Are they doing things in their own way instead of the way you think they should? Are they posting things to a public message board, despite the anonymity offered online, that you wouldn't? What, exactly, is disturbing to you .. and are you capable of putting it into a perspective which doesn't disturb you?

Don't forget, you always have the block button option to make your online time more enjoyable. :)

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 11:40:34 AM)

My sir doesnt approve everything I write about him before I write it. Number one, I tell him everything later and it never bothers him. I also send him links and cut and paste what others say(like shut up and give him a B.J.). The other thing is I never mention his name just call him sir. So I do not think of it as a loyalty thing. Just my POV

CalifChick -> RE: Posting about your "Partner" (3/21/2008 11:45:42 AM)

Oh Celeste, it doesn't bother me enough to NOT look, lol!  I think it's things that I would be unhappy about if someone posted about me, without my knowledge or outside of my comfort level. Kind of the way I feel embarrassed FOR someone when they're with someone who does something in public that perhaps crosses social boundaries. And I was wondering if it hit others the same way.

The most notable recent incident was when the guy posted about his gal being uncomfortable with masturbation, and then she started a separate thread to "defend herself" and you would swear they didn't even know each other because clearly they were not communicating (because his version of the issue wasn't even on the same topic as her version of the issue).  There was another post this morning about someone that I feel I know (and like), and that's what prompted this.
