When i was in Texas everyone would comment on my heavy northern accent with a twist...Pittsburgh has a dialect all its own.

Here is an example:
Jeet jet?
Naa, ju?
Naa, ja wan do?

Translation:
Did you eat yet?
No, did you?
No, do you want to?

What people call the "Minnesota accent." Sounds almost Canadian. You may have even been asked if you were from Canada before.

well, now that is perfect. i AM from Minnesota, and over here i'm almost always asked if i'm canadian. except if they ask if i'm irish. or scottish.

i've got that midwest accent softened and blurred with an aussie accent. most people like it.

Status: offline 		I have a neutral accent, which I knew from taking Linguistics in college.  I have always lived in Northern VA, with the exception of living in central VA during college.  When I lived in Sri Lanka years ago, I picked up that accent, too.  It was funny.  White girl, asian accent.  =)   I tend to be a dialect sponge.  

When I really want to be sweet 'n chahh-min'...  I relax my words and let a lil suthin' slip out...  just like hunnie...

I'm from Portland Oregon so I have no accent at all, unlike that new york person. lol
To be truthful, i think our accent is somewhere crossed between canadian and california. No matter, I believe we are the most clearly spoken in America and those guys on the news on TV, they get that accent from us.

mississippi, the all lost their southern accents for a week!
i either sound like i live in town or on the rez, wherever i happen to be...
