Hear hear. Sue them, I say. Pearl Harbor was disgusting rofl - the acting was also epouvantable. Yeah it was horrible. It's set in 1941, and no one in the movie smokes! WTF I got my degree in history, and I love movies. So great topic OP. I think most Westerns make my nomination. I love Westerns, but the overwhelming majority of them don't portray the American frontier of the 19th Century at all. I did like 'Tombstone' and Costner's 'Wyatt Earp'. Costner kept pretty well to the true events. 'Dances with Wolves' was a beautiful movie, but it was just ridiculous historically. Another Costner favorite of mine is 'Open Range', and it's not too far off the mark concerning the feuds between free rangers and ranchers. The most historically accurate movie of recent is 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World' IMO. I thought the director did a great job with that movie. I also liked the mutiny on the Bounty version with Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson. They followed the real events pretty well.
