My guess is that many really don't understand these advanced ties to social groups, having no such ties of their own. To me, the point lost in the zest to flame specific points in the original post, was the notion that we play the hand we are delt ... and perhaps lectures from those that aren't really part of a downcast group, are not all that helpful. My genetics, I am pretty clueless about. My skin colour, beige with occasional red tints. Oh, I forgot the foot the horse stepped on....it is blue, green, purple, burgundy, and a faint tint of yellow.

I find it a bit difficult to have pride in my heritage because I am such a huge mix that I would have to learn about 8 different cultures.So, I take pride in being myself. Sometimes I'm pinkish with yellow undertones, sometimes with red undertones. Sometimes I'm tan with an olive-y look to my skin. Irish, English, Native American, Dutch, German etc.
