So... this is not about one true way... it is about some tips.  Take them or leave them, I don't really care.

Since you asked... TeachMeTonight is the title of my favorite song and reflects my love of learning.

Come on, you're going to take all the fun out of it. If people started thinking before making screen name, we wouldn't be able to poke fun while passing popcorn around.

But considering how much mail the average female gets, it is not bright to do something that puts you out of the running before they even open your email.

Ditto that. I admit I also find it entertaining when people mispell the items in their s/n.
I particularly like when people confuse "dominate" with "Dominant"

LOL but I deliberatly misspell Harlett... as HarlOt is an occupation and not mine <wink>

:o) I got yours.

But, there's a large difference between "Whipping Her Feet" and "Whiping Her feet". It changes the position completely.

I'm not so picky on nick names...but I do find it humerous when a name portrays one thing, and they message you with the complete opposite

EX:

SirMasterDominantManlyMan: Please make me your sissy slave!

since you're criticizing everyone else's nick/screenname here, let's start with yours or is that off limits?

fair is fair, OP

so tell me - what should a potential Dom/me teach you tonight?  how about respecting people's choices when it comes picking their name even if it doesn't meet your approval.

And then there are those that are "Collard"  instead of Collared

another classical example where I get the impression that some people don't seem to have any demands in their life, when they are bothered about things like that. Am sorry to say that, but I have enough on my own plate on a daily basis that I can't be bothered to be annoyed about niknames from others....what does it bothers me how others name themselve...

Okay, but I read it as "Slave Here Ordering You To Start Training NOW!"

It is exactly the kind of name that makes me roll my eyes and giggle.  Funny how people have different perceptions about such things.

Actually, I thought the OP gave pretty good advice.  And like good advice everywhere, one is free to follow it or not.

My nickname (as opposed to my SN) with the guys in the mailroom is "Our Lady of Bondage," due to a rather unfortunate mishap with a parcel that was delivered to me at work.

OK, I admit it, I am fed up with some of the nicks I see on Collar Me.  So I thought I would come up with a few pointers on choosing a nick for yourself.

1) Your nick is not the headline for a personal ad, so please don't use things like sub4domme as a nick.
2) Your nick is the first impression you give someone, so don't make it a negative one, like IWannoDoYou.
3) Your nick should say something meaningful about yourself, for instance reflect an interest, something important about your character, or if all else fails something that is actually a name, nickname, or other word you would like to be called.  I don't want to address you with your nick if it's `Fucker for instance.
4) Be careful about using titles, especially when you are new to the scene.  You are not a master the day you arrive in the kink scene.  You may have dominant tendencies and aspire to being a master, but without a lot of learning and experience, you are not there yet.
5) Try to choose a nick you can live with for years, if you are here for the long haul it gives you more credibility to not have your nick change a dozen times along the way.
6) If you do have a title in your nick, i.e GoddessABC, don't expect people to use it, be prepared to be known as ABC as well as GoddessABC.

Hmmm, any other ideas?

OMG, I think my nick is politically correct and boring!
