"So?" was a valid response to her leading question. Again, he is correct, Level. I watched the video and he didn't say it arrogantly in my opinion, he said it softly and with a warm smile. He was being friendly enough to her, granting her an interview and discussing serious issues with candor and openness. You don't like the man, that's fine. Utterly obnoxious he was too, however as you have admitted to not knowing much about him let me enlighten you. He's one of the great British political interviewers, in a long line of such. If anyone, and i mean anyone, comes to his table and is inconsistent on the facts he will nail them. Repeatedly. Without lube. Publicly. He is neither left or right wing in his vitriol, he just clearly hates liars and those in public office who abuse that power. He's on the BBC. And he's one reason i never minded paying a TV licence when i was over there, because he just doesn't care who you are.......if you try to weasel out of a question he'll ferret you out (to mix a horrible metaphor).

If you need need to feel insulted by that interview, I suppose that you will. Something tells me that anyone who watches that video with an unbiased mindset won't come away angry like those whose minds have been poisoned with bitter Leftist propaganda over the last eight years or so. His tone was neutral, he wasn't in any way condescending or 'trivializing' as you say. He was making an excellent point, and what pisses a lot of people off is that it's a very good point, but they have to be mad about something because it's Dick Cheney after all. He's a monster. Not human at all. Is he.

Heretic the analogy is still off the wall.Granted at some point in any war a poll might show a majority of the populace against said war.The difference being the unmistakable necessity of WW2 as opposed to the search for WMD /connection to 9/11 or whatever justification of the month you care to hang your hat on.Sadamm was one evil bastard ,granted but this isn't and should never be confused with the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny

It's just that Cheney, with his history of evasion, has made his own bed to a degree. For many people, if not most, he has no benefit of the doubt.

In all other respects, analogies between Saddam and Hitler, between Iraq and the Third Reich, are quite appropo. Moreover, the Lend-Lease Act was a wink-wink nudge-nudge way of circumventing significant US public opnion against being involved in the war in Europe.

Celticlord not questioning the enormity of their respective evils,but certainly the analogy falls short of the mark when you measure the threat posed respectivley by Saddam's regime as measured against Hitler.Surely the Kurd's weren't enamored with Saddam's government but he fell far short of enslaving a continent and slaughtering millions in the name of racial purity.

The reason we went to war in the two cases, or the "justness" of the conflict has nothing to do with the fact that military stategy (or strategery) is not subject to the whims people express when someone calls at dinnertime to ask carefully worded, multiple choice, questions. It would be a poll from a period of bad news in a war. Perhaps you'd prefer one of the ass-kickings we took from the British during the Revolution?
