Taking note, but am a survivalist form way back, a back to the lander so to speak,,Have had fish ponds before,might consider them again...Plenty of deer Turkey and like ol' Hank says,I can skin a buck and run a trot line ,a country boy can survive.. and if it come right down too it can go back to being a veggie,was for about 10 years before I feel off the wagon...This is the best route for survivalist a 100% veggie diet or as near possible...If you must you can keep goats and chickens..AS a veggie you only need a small plot of land or a good greenhouse to survive..BH

If the government looked at the benefits of the Canabis plant, they would see that it has many different aspects that can be used to solve a great many issued with the environment. Fact is tho, the reason it is NOT going to be federally legalized any time soon, is because of the lumber companies. They are the ones that pushed to make it illegal.

Canabis, and Im not talking about the part that you smoke, (so get the fact that Im a drug adict right on out of your head My darling fan club members...since I know youre lurking here) produces twice the oxygen that trees do, it grows at an astronomically higher rate, which I dont know the numbers on...it can produce wood, paper, oil (which in effect can be used to replace the petroleum that we now use for fuel) and many other things that trees do, and that stripping of our land and local resources do.

Canabis can grow, if left alone, to be quite tall, and will have a very tree like "stalk" with bark and all. The processing of it is cleaner, at least as far as I know, and it can in effect replace trees for many things that we use now.  And, it can be stunted so that it will not produce buds, which is what is smoked, but will produce seed pods to make it a renewable resource....

Just a thought.

I hear you Christine, WE need to work to change the laws..Now how did we get from cfl's to government and surviving smile...I want to hear what you have done to make things better for ol' Mother Earth,how have you helped the earth mother survive....If you view this world from outer space and see just how beautiful it is we should be crying because we teat her so cruel..

Status: offline 		Funny, I live in NY. Upstate NY within driving distance of the capital. You cannot buy anything but low flow toilets here, just as it is in any other state due to Federal laws.

Champion toilets by American Standard are readily available and they work VERY well. You'd have to take a really nasty bovine dump into it to make it strain to deal with it. They are well made, long lasting, and a great value, IMO. Yes, I have one in my home. We replaced the old early days version of a low flow toilet that was in there when we bought the home with the Champion and the difference was amazing.

So, if you have an old low flow, it is time to replace it, or stop bitching and keep plunging.

Status: offline 		I just saw on cnn a report aboy CFL bulbs again,IT stated that if every walmart customer bought just and used just one bulb it would take near a million cars off the road energy...YEAH RIGHT WE CAN KEEP ON SELLING THOSE SUCKERS AND TRY TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM DOWN THE ROAD....US FOLKS IN THE COUNTRY WITH SEPTIC SYSTEMS NEED TO THINK ABOUT COMPOSTING TOLIETS..OUR LAST SEPTIC SCREW UP COSTS US OVER 5 GRAND TO TAKE CARE OF....JUST AN OLD RIVER RATS TAKE ON THE SITUATION...BOUNTY

  Exactly.  There's going to have to be some work involved in fixing up what we have majorly messed up.  To those that want simply to CONSUME<CONSUME<CONSUME...and then Complain when any leeway is made on reversing the problems we have...(or deny that there are serious environmental problems) .  i have friends and peers who gave me crap because i bought a more "green" car.  The fact that i took it into consideration was laughable...after all, we're a society that is focused on bling and fluff.  The more shit it looks like you have, the more important other people will think you are.  That attitude has gotten us where we are now...fighting bullshit wars because we're looking for oil like a junkie on a 3 A.M  frenzy...and in debt to our freaking ears...a paycheck away from repo hell.  i am sorry if it is inconvenient...but it IS the truth.  Trust me, i know Al Gore is a politician...but give him credit for choosing his battle before it became trendy.  However, disdain for him, and any other politically aimed group doesn't change the facts.  We are not helping the environment.  We are hurting it...and the same people that worry about what material possessions they will leave for their offspring and future generations, seem to give less than a damn about how much their kids will suffer in a planet that lacks basic natural resources, and a safe and liveable environment.
