I am very far from being a genius , and also far from being a person of a great talant , but yes I have some talants , and I think the masochists are in absolute majority are the people who in another fields of their beings are the people of special abilities.
I think that among the masochists there are the people of great talants and some masochists are even the people of great genius.
Is it because of the natures bounty to give you some special abilities , the nature at the same time gives you deformity of mind - to be in the paradise of hell  ?

As far as masochism goes, it's a mixture of nature and nurture I believe, with nature providing triggers that the environment may or may not flip. If they're flipped, paradise of hell; if not, nice smooth vanilla ride. But yeah, at core, all sexuality and talents all boil down to the genome, I think. It's just a random chromosone dance that decides whether spcial gifts coincide with a  not-standard sexuality. Special gifts are given to many non-masochists as well.

I have a genius level IQ (over 140) but am not at all masochistic.  I think that you are looking for an explanation in the wrong place.

I have read that most people involved in the lifestyle have above average intelligence.  I think that intelligent people tend to be more introspective and MAY be able to more easily identify their truest longings, but that is not always true.

I do not believe that masochists have more special abilites, or that there are more masochists with special abilities, than any other group of people. I also do not believe that we're all lucky enough to have a balance in our skills and...what's the PC term for it these days..."opportunities for improvement"? Sure, let's go with that. I do believe, however, that I'm not much impressed with masochism being referred to as a deformity of mind.

OP do you have some kind of reference for this or.... Where are you getting this idea from exactly.

As far as people in the lifestyle being smarter than vanilla types... I'd have to say I disagree. Jackasses come in all different flavors.

I cant really think of any examples... except for Van Gogh with the ear cutting thing... but I'm pretty sure that was more than just a masochistic streak.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is a translation thing and no malice was intended (says the teacher who teaches english to people as a 2nd language). The OP is from Estonia.

There is a stereotipe that most of the genius are gays.
I think that most of the genius are the masochists and gays.
Gays and masochists are among the greatest genius.
The ones who do not belong to these groups are in majority - the  self-controlled gays and masochists.

I'm not sure masochists have a lock on intelligence, nor are they all particularily introspective. Ummmm, isn't it common knowledge that sadists have intelligence all wrapped up?

Well what if you are only gifted, coming in at 133, and running sado and masso. Does that mess things up?

Of course if you add for overall grey matter death, and factor in age, I bet that number has come down a couple dozen points. So shoot I wouldnt even venture the bloody gifted now. Dern!!
