Warped thoughts and fragments from the mind of phoenixinchains;

"Those afraid of glory will never know greatness,"- quote from a wicked jester t-shirt.

"Twisted as a mascochist's nipple,"- quote from another t-shirt.

"How far can i go? How far is too far? How much is too much? What is the limit? Is there a limit? What happens when you break the bounderies?"- thoughts from crazy little artist me. on art. do these thoughts cross over to myself? yes.

don't know if this helps the OP, but i tried- just phoenix

Well, one of the problems with "masochism" is that it's never clear how the person is using the word.  For some psychiatrists, a "masochist" is someone who cannot be sexually aroused without pain.  By that definition, very few people in the world are masochists.

Grins....Sacher-Mascho, described the activity. The British perfected it.

PS: Why are we sadists left out of the discussion. I feel disinfranchised, my fetish put on the back burner. I object to not being included as a genius. I'm sure I'm a genius...almost positive.

Ah, don't feel left out. You get to the Muse to our genius. That's a very special part. Hmm, Muse/genius...-just phoenix

Yep, I agree.

Then, then, that would make you the dominant. Your supposed to be My muse. Have I been mislead all these years? Damn, tricked again by yet another masochistic, submissive genius.

Okay.. not compleatly sure about what the OP is saying but if I read it right.... As far as I know I have seen statistics where there is a higher percentage of successful people involved in kink than in other groups... Its still comprised of all walks of life however more of a percentage of business owners / professionals and so on.  There are a few theories about why this is however it would be way wrong to say that people involved in kink are generally smarter than people not involved in kink  If you break it down it comes out to some 30% of people could be catagorized as kind of like Vanilla with a kinky swirl but about  8-10% have ever tried S&M and only about 2% make it a lifestyle. The number of people that do it on occasion is up in the 4% area.  There has really never been any reliable statistics done on it and probably wont be but to give you an idea roughly the number of men involved in S & M is also equal to the number of men that can suck themselves off so to say that smart people tend to get involved is like saying all the men involved tend to be able to suck themselves off... which probably is not the case.  Allthough in recent years it has become more popular ... it is becoming more popular more as an image rather than an actually practice and such the definitions of what it is that we do seem to be more or less broadening to encompass a larger group rather than the number of people identifing with the lifestyle increasing but again like the statistics its all crap!  Some of the newer research into behavior seems to also sugest a higher degree of people with certain types of mental illnesses also get involved in it but in the same way do you really want to go there????  In a time in human history where we are trying to find cross cultural simularities its not a line of thinking you really want to try to entertain unless you can find a University that is willing to place seventy or eighty thousand into which isnt going to happen... any conclusions of trying to single people out more than they allready are is just plain bad.

Sorry guys its morning for me and damn I wish I did this in word before posting...lol

Hmm, thought on it a little longer. Yep, it works. Geniuses are mortal while muses are gods. It works. [:)] just phoenix

But are they all masochists, that's the question.

I would love to know where you read these percentages.

I cant really think of any examples... except for Van Gogh with the ear cutting thing... but I'm pretty sure that was more than just a masochistic streak.

No masochism there, just bipolar.

Stephen Hawkings isn't a masochist, neither was Einstein. Nor Picasso nor Rembrandt nor Rubens. Da Vinci wasn't and even among geniuses he was heads above the rest.

I suppose a very thin case could be made for Galileo for fighting the church's teachings on the earth not being the center of the universe. Let's see? Aristotle? Nope. Shakespeare? Nope. Chaucer? Not him either.

MasterWilliam55 -> RE: Why the nature beside the genius or a great talant , gives you the mark of masochism ? (4/4/2008 10:48:12 AM)

Galileo....nay, he was an argumentative bastard who just wanted to win the debate.

phoenixinchains -> RE: Why the nature beside the genius or a great talant , gives you the mark of masochism ? (4/5/2008 12:43:08 AM)

i am aware of my IQ, semi mascochistic, an artist, and Chaos's muse. i am a talented if not prideful little slave. mawh ha ha.

eyesopened -> RE: Why the nature beside the genius or a great talant , gives you the mark of masochism ? (4/5/2008 3:05:54 AM)

i think the answer is pretty simple.... no one talks about, researches or glorifies the dullard!

i mean, who is really interested in the social or sexual orientation of untalented people of average or less than average intelligence?

You could easily say something like "geniuses wear glasses!" and be equally correct.
