scroll down to the last video.  it is the US militarys  training video on depleted uranium.  it does make me wonder WHY, this is so necessary.

No he didn't the Government took it away you didn’t see it in time.

All I can say on the matter is I’m shocked they are using depleted uranium shells to make cows glow in the dark and control the minds of the whole of the US.[8|]

kittinSol -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 3:15:59 PM)

The mind control is actually all in the cows.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 3:20:31 PM)

So it seems, whoever smuggled this video out is a marked man. A paragon of truth and justice fighting for the common man and showing us the evil plans of the US government. I can't believe I didn't see it sooner but then they are very cunning.[8|]

Korea beat us to the punch.  They made glow-in-the-dark kittens.

Way more OMG KAWAII!!!! ^___^ than cows, if you ask me.

Wow....those conspiracy nuts are entertaining. But I'd rather see a hollywood-produced movie for my fiction.

This reminds me of the time I was chatting and let it be known I was prior-enlisted and was then berrated for a half-hour by some nut demanding to know what we were "spraying" into the atmosphere. Unfortunately the conspiracy nuts don't realize those 'trails' are called condensation and come off of every plane, some are just more visible than others.

"Some people." [8|]

kittinSol -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 6:19:49 PM)

One thing that's not a conspiracy theory is Gulf War syndrome, something the military authorities vigorously denied for years - until it was proven that the pesticides used to kill sand flies, and the pills soldiers took to counterract the effects of nerve gas, and the anthrax vaccine, indeed had a rather nasty effect on quite a few of those that served during the Gulf War... Wow, those poor soldiers...

Gulf War syndrome

But the cherry on the cake had to be depleted uranium shells : on reflexion, not something anyone should get too close to without a serious health warning.

Owner59 -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 6:21:38 PM)

ummm,fyi,....this is an army training film.

Are they conspiracy nuts? lol

Some people....[sm=tongue.gif]

Funny, the film itself says it's not a major hazzard.

Not to mention the fact that I was given a shell casing from one of those rounds that sat on my shelf for years with no ill effects.

Owner59 -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 6:40:25 PM)

ok soldier,

What part of the vid was inaccurate or conspiracy?

added: it`s the dust and airborne particals that are the problem,not DU in of it`s self.

The vid itself said it was a minor danger, only in intense fire situations is there a need to worry.

You think DU is bad? Try Hydrazine. It's the chemical used on an F-16 that allows it to 'self start.' It's also the chemical that, if you can smell it, it's already too late for you, you're dead.

At my last base, they just "thought" they might have a hydrazine spill and the entire base went on alert. They wouldn't even let people who lived on that side of the base drive along the road that led "by" the flightline.

The fact is, there are MANY substances that are dangerous that are necessary. That's why people are trained to operate with and around them. The fact that this vid is on a conspiracy site is just ridiculous.

Owner59 -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 7:18:37 PM)

  so there is nothing inaccurate or conspiratorial about the vid,as you claimed.

All you have it where it was posted,which is irrelevant.

That was easy....<pushes "easy button">

The "conspiracy" part comes when the people who posted it try and blow it up to be much bigger than it is. They can't find a legitimate conspiracy to further their cause, so they make one up.

thompsonx -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 7:29:59 PM)

Are you saying that millions of pounds of depleted uranium are not a significant health hazard?

so what then,is PAhunk`s "conspiracy" here?

I missed that part.

And what`s his angle ?

He`s always been a sweet and honest man,IMO.

I don't recall indicating that he was the conspiracy nut. I made references to the site, nothing more. Many are fooled by conspiracy sites and so they forward the information thinking they are doing a service when in fact they are not. Once they learn, they don't do it anymore. Now it could be a mistake on his part to put this out there, or he could be doing it to poke fun at the conspiracy nuts himself. I don't know his reasons.

What I do know, is that pointing out the dangers of depleted uranium is a lot like pointing out the dangers of a can of Raid under your sink. We kinda already knew it was bad stuff, that's why we shoot it at our enemies. The overblown sense of danger about just being around the stuff is un-necessary, though, since anyone who does handle it is trained how to do so.

Ever fired a gun? Ever seen the black stuff on your hands afterward? Do you think it's a smart idea to get that stuff on your hands and then go have a cheeseburger? Same concept with DU shells. Don't eat it or 'huff it' and you'll be fine.

QuietlySeeking -> RE: depleted Uranium (4/6/2008 7:51:55 PM)

I believe the show was "Conspiracy Theories" on Bravo.

The show advanced a different theory on the cause of Gulf War Syndrome....chromosomal breakage.  The type of breakage shown on the program (for several Gulf war vets) was more severe than persons undergoing the most radical radiation treatments for cancer.

Although the testing method will probably not be "accepted" for many years, I thought it was particularly well presented and provided a simple explanation that would account for the laundry list of symptoms that veterans report as GWS.
