the meaning behind my nick is pretty simple and somewhat half-arsed. I like velvet, both as a textile and a name; Velvet was quite a common name in Victorian times, though if one were to call their daughter Velvet now, one can only imagine the 'stripper' connotations given by their peers. I prefer velvet to latex, for example, I like the soft, sensuous feel of the fibres. Luxe is part of an online handle I use on msn/various other sites. This comes partially from a drunken night when my friends and I were choosing burlesque names we'd go by if that were our profession and I like that 'lux' means 'light' in Latin.  So in conclusion [:D] my nick to me means 'soft light' and suits my personality better than something meaning "awe inspiring/on par with aurora borealis" etc [;)]

For years my nickname has been "Kitten" or "kitty" or some-such. I have a collar that says "Bad Kitty" and so people started refering to me as kitty. Most of my online personas have a bit of my real name in them, like Melkitty for my journal. Darling Melkitty came about when my ex girlfriend started refering to me in her journal as the "Darling Melkitty".
As I've discovered more of my submissive nature i wanted to keep the kitty part, but not use so much of my real name. I went through several different languages, and modifications before i decided that i liked the french words for "Love Kitten". Nobody seems to get that it's kitten though and i OFTEN get asked if i chat more, or something like that.

he occasionally calls me annabelle as a joke. i'm his, hence hisannabelle. it originally started out as a coverup since i didn't really connect my online "bdsm" persona with the stuff that is linked to my real life; i generally use the name he calls me normally (that i chose for myself) on other sites, so i didn't want my postings here to be linked up with things like my domain or myspace. now i don't much care anymore, but annabelle kind of stuck, and as it by itself is normally taken, "hisannabelle" works just fine for me :)
