I saw a programme some years ago, I can't cite it b/c after all this time I no longer remember what the programme was called. It was an american documentary focusing on studies that had been done regarding the demographics of people who had been diagnosed/treated for breast cancer. What was interesting is that it was noted that sufferers lived in ' area clusters ' and upon further scrutiny, it was discovered that in such areas were fast food factories/processing plants. Coincidence?

Whenever I eat junk food, I feel sluggish and lacklustre, so try to eat foods as 'pure' as possible although I still have some intolerances and funnily enough, bananas are one of them - I find them indigestible! If I eat a banana one day, I can still 'taste' it the following day, same with cucumber if I leave the seeds in, or peppers with the skins on. When I was a kid growing up I never had a stomach ache or tum/bum problem, those developed later on in life - and with the introduction of processed foods.

We're a bloody happy bunch lol

colon cancer has little to do with what you actually eat. I was 35 when they found a tumour in my colon. The only way they found it was by a colonoscopy. I happened to find a trace bit of blood in my stools and went to have it checked out right away. At first because of my age, the Dr said oh its probably a hemrroid but that I should get it checked out. Well turned out it was a tumour and had i waited 6 more months I would have had full blown colon cancer. I had to have repeat colonoscopies every 18 months, and now I am cleared for 5 years. Wahoo. The last one I had done was in Oct. The procedure itself is nothing. The prep is horrible. No way to get around it. It does suck. Just don't ever stick your head in the sand and say it couldn't be me, because I eat healthy etc. I was 35 years old. An  extremely healthy eater, and work out everyday. Yes it can happen to anyone.

There is also a connection between breast cancer and colon cancer.  This according to my surgeon.

I was the same story, perfectly healthy, blood in the stool, turned out to be two masses that definitely would've turned into cancer.  50 years old is when you should start with colonoscopy UNLESS there is a family history of polyps and/or colon cancer, then you should talk to your doctor and probably be tested before age 50.

People tucking into a sausage roll (pig in blanket) a day (How many people opt for a quick breakfast/lunch and grab one?) can expect their colon/bowel cancer risk to increase by a fifth.

Family history of colon cancer/benign polyps is a strong risk factor.

It's not unfortunate.  Because of my experience my brother had his first colonscorpy before age 45 and had 2 benign polyps removed.  I like to think that my experience has saved him some future grief.

I haven't had this procedure done, but good luck Popeye.
I am glad you are being sedated, maybe they will give you valium!
Then at least maybe you will be smiling a little bit.

Good luck Popeye!

What's nice about colonscopy is that you do not have to wait for the results.  They give you feedback as soon as they feel you are adequately awake to receive it.  Sometimes they draw pictures of what they find!

Popeye, they will give you Versed and Fentanyl. Most of us don't have the benefit of being high as a kite when long, large objects are forced into our rectum.
Count your blessings and try to enjoy the ride.

Popeye, it's a cool drug.  You feel nothing and you remember nothing.  They should give it more often.

Well, this is my personal soapbox.  Talk to your primary doctor and follow his/her recommendations.  You can have stuff growing inside you and have no clue until you become symptomatic, and sometimes that can be too late.  And seriously, the prep is the worst part of it.
