Hasn't it been about 30 years since Egypt and Syria "tried to attack" Israel.  Yes, I think it has.  A lot has happened in 30 years.
One of which is Egypt is the nation that gets the 2nd largest amount of aid from the US.  The first is, of course, Israel.  The 3rd is Jordan.
Jordan and Egypt are the only two Arab states who have signed peace treaties with Israel.

Just things that make you go hmmmm.

Oh, and if Israel was such a "rallying cry" as you put it, then why have the Arab states not ganged up against Israel?  They have  more soldiers, and much much much more money.

It is because they cannot and will not ever get along.  The Sunnis and the Shias fight each other everywhere.  The Saudis are too busy spending their money on 7 million dollar camels to spend even one dollar on aid to Palestine.  Men in Dubai are spending 13 million dollars for a license plate, and kids in Iraq go without shoes.  They are all muslim.  And the Koran says they are supposed to help each other.  So why don't they?

Because they hate each other, and that will never go away.

Oh, and if Israel was such a "rallying cry" as you put it, then why have the Arab states not ganged up against Israel?

Lol

Just where have you been for the last 50 years?

Yes, Hezbullah attacks Israel, Syria supports Hezbullah, and Iran supports Syria.

And a few katusha rockets fly into Israel.

I'd like to see another war, just to see the outcome.  I'm tired of the pissing contest.  LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Bethnai -> RE: War Criminals: In Our Names! (4/12/2008 7:49:46 AM)

Actually, Israel has extended itself to other nation-states as well. It is Syria who does not want war.

On this note, I have to crash. I do shift work. I'm not backing out or down.  Hopefully, tonight if not tomorrow morning.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: War Criminals: In Our Names! (4/12/2008 7:52:24 AM)

Well... Syria occupied Lebanon and Israel did not.

Someone doesn't want war.

Termyn8or -> RE: War Criminals: In Our Names! (4/12/2008 8:01:53 AM)

How did we get here. One thing's for sure, I didn't bring it here, but now that we are here :

The people who lived in what is now Israel lived there instead of other places because they could. They wanted to be with their own. Palestinians wanted to live in Palestine like Germans want to live in Germany. You got Syrians, Libyans whatever, like different tribes in some places, their customs diverged. Way back, basically tribes became nations.

Now, with the advent of world wars, and people taking it upon themselves to draw the borders of other countries, we have problems. Czeckoslovakia (sp) is an example.

Now if anyone here REALLY wants to take it back to how it started, I'd like to see it. Think backwards, let me just capitulate for the moment that Hitler was a madman and started WW2 on his own volition just because he was a madman and a dangerous bigot. No other reason. Don't even think about it but for one thing .............

Why was it possible for Hitler to come to power ? Why was it possible for Hitler to incite the people to such radical action ?

People who know will tell you that war reparations and the damage to Germany destroyed their economy. They were in bad shape. They were dealt with severely after WW1. It took a wheelbarrow full of money to buy a postage stamp.

So who started WW1 ? It certainly wasn't Hitler, he may have been jacking off in the bathroom at the time, but that usually doesn't start world wars.

These wars were planned and bait basically to get the people to support the cold war which led to many technological advancements. As a result we have a monster of rich people running the world. Yup, it doesn't sound right at first, but say it a couple of times "A monster of rich people".

And folks, these people are so big that an ash from their cigar would kill Bill Gates.

Where they decide to draw the lines between countries is well thought out. Military and economic advantages of course are considered highly, but sometimes it almost seems that they want to put people together who do not want to be together.

I know and will now state that they have at least a total disregard for this factor when they draw the map. But if the motive is to keep the people in a state of divisiveness, it is a sinister motive indeed. I am avoiding alleging that at this time though.

But I do allege that they care not what the people want. As such we got what we got.

Do you know what a conspiracy is? it's a crime commited by two or more people. There are very few crimes which are not conspiracies and the police arest people every day for conspiricy. Your just repeating what they have brainwashed you to believe but deprogramming starts now..

The thing is, the US begged Israel to sit on its hands during the first Gulf War.  While Saddam was launching SCUD missiles into Israel weekly (if not daily), the US told Israel to 'sit tight', and let US handle things.

We're still trying--now dividing our forces between Iraq and Afghanistan, and getting little to nowhere against Al-Quaida in the former, and the Taliban in the latter.

Now--again--missiles are again raining on Israel.  Why doesn't the US treat Israel like an ally, and tell her to do what she needs to do, to defend herself (and that we'll support her--militarily and diplomatically--should she need such help?)

Much of the ME keeps harping about the Palestinians, but are they really Palestinians?  (Aren't they, in fact, Israelis?)  Doesn't there have to be a Palestine, before there can be Palestinians?  And, didn't Israel win the land where the 'Palestinians' currently live, in 1967, when Israel defeated--among other agressors--Egypt?  Why should Israel have to 'give' that land 'back'?  (And, why should Israel give it to the 'Palestinians'?  Why not to Egypt?)

'W' is the first US President I've heard (and I've been listening to Presidents since Nixon) to state that the creation of an independent Palestinian state has "always been a US priority".  And yet, shortly after each reminder of this, a new intifada, a new wave of 'Palestinian' violence against Israel and/or the US, begins all over again.

Yeah, I'm almost ready to say, take the gloves off in the ME, and let Israel loose again, and see if the results this time are any different than they were 40 years ago.

Somehow, if anything, I think the rest of the ME would fare worse now, than they fared then.  (And they didn't do very well at all, in 1967.)

You need to check your facts. Israel occupied Lebanon from 1982 to 1985 for a start.

Oh... Israel did NOT occupy Lebanon.  They did occupy part of southern Lebanon.
There is definitely a difference.

This is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.
That's like saying there were never Indians in America, because we white people have been here for 400 years, by God!

Listen, Jews were kicked out of Israel nearly 2000 years before the UN formed it again.  Anyone who thinks that land sat there without people on it for that long waiting for the Jews to come back is just well... dumb.

Bethnai -> RE: War Criminals: In Our Names! (4/12/2008 8:05:53 PM)

I am glad you brought that up.  Telling Israel not to retaliate was humiliating.  If I'm not mistaken though that was the only way to thump Israel because they took out the Osirak Nuclear Reactor in 1981. I don't care what anyone says....that was bad as hell. That rocked.  Israel does not get continued support from the US, especially if it interferes with petrodollars.

MissSephora
And again with the Palestinians. The land was purchased and a lot of it was purchased before the creation of the state of Israel. Much of it was owned by wealthy landowners, the government, churches etc.  The smaller farms were purchased last.  Jordan loved the Palestinians so much that they went to war with them. Nobody wants refugees. They cost too much.

There is a world war happening, its just not taking place on your soil. Iran and Israel go way back. Israel, depending on leadership, either continuously has reached out for friendship, as in selling weapons to Iran, or rather trying to act as a mediator between the US and Iran, or said,"Hey! Lets make a parking lot of 'em.  Albeit, Israel used to need Iran way more than Iran needed Israel.  Iran no longer funds Hezbollah and it has been a long time since they have been able to exert any influence over them.  Early on in the Revolution it was made absolutely clear that Iran would publically state they believed that the Palestinians were right, but they were not about to do anything about it.

Syria and Iran have always had very strained relations. Syria, Iran and Israel are all outcasts. The Koran itself is peaceful, the interpretations of the Koran are the problem. Shia make up 10% of the population, Sunni makes up the other 90%.  Large Shia populations are (obviously) in Iran, Iraq and Lebanon. For all the crap that the Shia endured in Iraq, during the war with Iran they fought as Iraqi's.

Iraqi children have had more problems than with shoes. During the Gulf War, DU was used. Its called low-grade genocide. All for Kuwait drilling sideways into Iraqi oil.

It would really be helpful if you could focus a bit. Your generalizations have a tendency to slide.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: War Criminals: In Our Names! (4/12/2008 8:15:28 PM)

So, how could Palis possibly be refugees from a country that never existed, according to some people????

And do you know who was giving Hezbullah cash to hand out to southern Lebanon after Israel invaded in 2006?
I'll give you a hint, it wasn't Bush.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: War Criminals: In Our Names! (4/12/2008 8:22:57 PM)

The US was purchased from the Indians as well.
Wow, tha worked out well for the Indians, didn't it?

I figure I should throw some relevant facts into the discussion since it has been derailed into absurdity.

Fact  1. MissSepphora: Has big shapely boobs.
Fact  2. No one else has pics of big boobs on this thread.

So, therefore MissSepphora is right and the rest of you are wrong.

End of discussion.
